I appreciate that you are trying to save me money on my taxes this year. What confuses me about your concern is that I thought the whole point of a Roth Conversion is to save me taxes that I will pay on my IRA withdrawals in the future. So won't a $100,000 dollar conversion this year, be better for reducing the taxes on my IRA withdrawals in the future?

@dev145 Thank you so much! One more question. We donated to a new built church for around $20000 because of their urgent needs. The donation amount covers our entire W-2 of this year (more than our incomes). Usually how could we list this donation into our tax form to get a full tax refund? Will that affect the FICA amount? Thanks again.

I also signed up for Windows 10 extended support. I tried using TurboTax online a couple of years ago but found it unusable. Navigation was so poor that I couldn't go back and fix an incorrect entry. I also didn't like that it appeared to be saving all of my data in the cloud instead of to a local ".tax" file. At this point, if I need to use online tax software I might as well start from scratch and research all options.

for line 22 look in the IRS 1040 instructions. tax table starting on page 64 for your filing status if line 5 is less than $100K otherwise use the tax rate schedule starting on page 109. alternatively, you can use the tax rate schedule even if line 5 is under $100K but you're likely to be off a few $. This will tell you the marginal rate used

I downloaded 2024 TurboTax to complete my tax return and that of family members. I have never had any issues with TurboTax until recently. Now I can no longer access the returns and have to sign into my TurboTax account online and not returns show, the laptop I used to prepare 2024 returns has Windows 10. I downloaded TurboTax 2024 to my desktop and thought I could with the use of a scandisk move the 2024 returns to the desktop, this was unsuccessful. Please give me advise on how I can access the 2024 returns and have them transferred to the desktop which has Windows 11. Thank you!

Health insurance that you pay for out of pocket can be entered as a medical expense.
Are you receiving Social Security? If so, your Medicare Part A and Part B amount flows automatically to the medical expense part of your software, but if you pay out of pocket (not from your SS benefits) for the supplemental portion, you can enter that.
If you receive Social Security benefits, your Medicare is deducted from your SS. When you enter the SSA1099 for your Social Security, the amount paid for Medicare flows automatically to the medical expense section of the software, so do not enter it again.
MEDICAL EXPENSES
The medical expense deduction has to meet a rather large threshold before it can affect your return. The amount of medical (including dental, vision, etc.) expenses that will count toward itemization is the amount that is OVER 7.5% of your adjusted gross income. You should only enter the amount that you paid in 2024—do not include any amounts that were covered by insurance or that are still outstanding. Of course, your medical expenses plus your other itemized deductions still have to exceed your standard deduction before you will see a difference in your tax due or refund.
To enter your medical expenses go to Federal>Deductions and Credits>Medical>Medical Expenses
2024 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS
SINGLE $14,600 (65 or older/legally blind + $1950)
MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY $14,600 (65 or older/legally blind + $1550)
MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $29,200 (65 or older/legally blind + $1550)
HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD $21,900 (65 or older/legally blind + $1950)
