Updates should be coming but depending what you need it seems unlikely to me that stuff you can't do now will suddenly be all done for Jan 15th.  It's possible to use forms mode tho some can be tricky.   this tool shows form availability so a lot of 1040 updates will be coming in January tho not clear when the interview sections will be available as 1099B says "Feb or sooner" https://form-status.app.intuit.com/tax-forms-availability/formsavailability?albRedirect=true&product=Turbotax_online&bu=cg   At this point it's a matter of waiting a few weeks as 1099s are not available yet anyway.  But if you still need to do 2025 estimations use forms mode, use different s/w or some other online calculator like this https://www.dinkytown.net/java/1040-tax-calculator.html

TurboTax always opens an "empty" return when I start the program.  I always have to "Open Recent Return" and close the newly created return.  Waste of time!  Since I have a return in progress, is there a way to always re-open that return and bypass the forced new return steps?   Thanks ~ Bill

The $6,000 Deduction for Seniors is a deduction, not a credit. It has nothing to do with your Social Security benefits. It's based only on your age. The Deduction for Seniors is intended as a substitute for the campaign promise of no tax on Social Security, but there is no actual change in the tax on Social Security benefits. The Deduction for Seniors is calculated in Part V of Schedule 1-A and it is included in the total additional deductions on line 13b of Form 1040 or 1040-SR. The $6,000 is a maximum. Not everyone gets the full $6,000. Your deduction will be less than $6,000 if your income is above the phase-out threshold that DoninGA mentioned. The amount of your Deduction for Seniors is on Schedule 1-A line 37.
Hi,   Can you please point me to where the IRS states that inspections are not deductible on your schedule C if you are a ride share driver?
You have to ask the other tax service what the terms of their loan are. There are no universal rules.

I did not change anything. I ran the program multiple times, and one day it worked! I thought Turbo Tax fixed the glitch in their program.

I have been an Intuit and Turbotax customer for over twenty years. As of today I have not heard about why I have not gotten notices about the 2025 tax year version which supposedly was available in November of 2025. So I logged in to my account today and found out that the likely reason is that my payment method card has expired. So I attempted to update my payment method only to be given "Oops something wrong." and I tried two cards (AMEX and VISA) and neither one works. I never received an email stating my payment method needs attention. People who subscribe to the desktop version should at least get a courtesy of notification. I am seriously thinking of alternative solution since this is a horrible way to treat a customer of over 20 years.

When did the IRS implement this deduction?

When will the 1099R section be ready for the 2025 TurboTax? I want to get a response from a TurboTax employee and not someone from a user group. Also, when I sign up to be notified when it is updated, I get a fast reply it has been...except it really has not.
