1. I was covered by ACA in 2024, under my own name. 2. My parents reported me as an dependent and entered the 1095A in their form. 3. I am trying to amend my tax return as I originally file and didn't indicate I was someone's dependent. 4. I changed it to indicate I could be claimed dependent but am getting an error - see below.   I received a 1095A for my ACA.  My parents received a separate 1095A - as they are the only 2 on that ACA "account".  My Healthcare.gov account is separate.  Needless to say, the monthly amounts on our 2 1095A forms are quite different.  If I change the SSN on MY Turbo Tax form to my parent's SSN, the numbers in the monthly grid relate to my ACA account, so I'm not sure what to do. "Recipient's SSN You have indicated you can be claimed as an dependent. Please delete this copy of Form 1095A and have the 1095A reported on that person's tax return"

I am now convinced that TT wants everyone to migrate to doing taxes on-line. Just received an email from TT because I had been an It's Deductible user which they discontinued in October. They offered a discount on TT products to make up for that. I discovered the discount only applied to the on-line products. Wonder how long before they drop desktop software completely?

I get it. A business decision. 100K users out of millions using TurboTax. Falling numbers of itemizers.  But… why October?  Why not stop at the end of a tax year allowing users to wrap up their deductions, submit them, file them and then transition to another way of tracking?  Really thoughtless.

Not sure what you mean when you say you "did not get a chance to do it" in regard to your 2022 return.  Do you mean you did not even prepare a 2022 return?   Or do you mean you prepared one but just never managed to put it in an envelope and take it to a mailbox?       If you did not even file your 2022 return by e-filing or by mail, it has never been sent to the IRS at all.  You do not "amend" a return that has never been filed or processed.   The only way to file a 2022 return now is by mail.   You can still print it, sign and date it, and mail it in.           When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.   Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
