If the birthdate listed is correct, most likely the IRS has the wrong date of birth on file. In this case, you won't be able to e-file, because the date you're entering doesn't match their records.   Follow the steps under TurboTax Online or TurboTax Desktop, but select File by mail on the Let’s get ready to e-file screen, to print and mail your return.   Note: To prevent this rejection next year, call the Social Security Administration (SSA) at 1-800-772-1213 to verify their records (this is where the IRS database pulls from). If the info is wrong, please allow 4–6 weeks for correction.   For more information, see How do I fix Reject IND-524?
I participated in a research study, filled out some questions, kept diary, and went in for some bloodwork and scans. Does that count as performing a service for the payment?

A charitable donation almost never changes your tax due or refund all by itself.  First, your donation does not count "dollar for dollar"--it is calculated by a percentage based on your tax bracket.  You need a LOT of other itemized deductions like mortgage interest or property taxes, medical expense, etc. to itemize and exceed your standard deduction. Your itemized deductions have to be more than your standard deduction before you will see a change in your tax owed or tax refund.  The deductions you enter do not necessarily count “dollar for dollar;” many of them are subject to meeting  tough thresholds—medical expenses, for example, must meet a threshold that is pretty hard to reach. (Only the amount that is MORE than 7.5% of your AGI counts)   The software program uses all the IRS rules that apply to the expenses you enter, and it tells you if you have enough to use your itemized deductions or if using the standard deduction is more advantageous for you.  Under the tax laws that have been in effect since 2018, some deductions have been capped—there is a $10,000 limit to the itemized deductions for state, local, property and sales taxes.   The standard deduction makes some of your income “tax free.”  It is not a refund.  You will see your standard or itemized deduction amount on line 12 of your 2024 Form 1040.     2024 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS SINGLE $14,600    (65 or older/legally blind + $1950) MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY            $14,600    (65 or older/legally blind + $1550) MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $29,200    (65 or older/legally blind + $1550) HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD $21,900    (65 or older/legally blind + $1950)

Each tax year is separate.  You cannot apply your 2023 refund to your 2024 tax due.  The only way to accomplish that would have been to make that choice when you filed the 2023 return.    You will need to pay your 2024 federal tax---which is now late.  If you have federal tax due you can pay by mailing your payment with the 1040V voucher, (which has the address printed on it, having the payment taken out of a designated bank account, or you can pay directly on the IRS website.    https://www.irs.gov/payments     https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-payments/help/how-can-i-pay-my-federal-taxes/00/26212     https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-payments/help/how-do-i-pay-my-irs-tax-due-with-a-check-or-money-order/00/26403      To apply for a payment plan with the IRS   Apply Online for a Payment Plan     You must pay your state tax due using the state’s preferred method of receiving payment.  For most states that will be by making a payment to the state’s own tax website, or by mailing a check or money order.     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/state-taxes/contact-state-department-revenue/L9qVToi02_US_en_US?uid=m6e06um0   WHAT IF I CANNOT PAY MY TAX DUE? https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-payments/pay-taxes/L8aQBCpPO_US_en_US?uid=m9iryksw       As for 2023:   TurboTax does not get any information at all from the IRS after you file your tax return.  No one at TurboTax knows what the IRS is doing with your 2023 return.     Did you mail your return or e-file?   If you mailed it:   MAILED RETURNS If  you mail a tax return (or a payment) to the IRS, it is a good idea to use a mailing service that will track it like UPS or certified mail so you will know it was received.   When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.    TurboTax will not know anything about your mailed return, and will continue to show “Ready to Mail” on your account.  TurboTax will not know that you put your tax return in an envelope and took it to a mailbox.  TurboTax does not get updates on mailed  (or e-filed) returns.   The IRS refund site  is now showing information for 2022 returns as well as information for 2023 or 2024 returns so you can check the IRS site.   You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2023 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds     Or......     Did you e-file?  Did you click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”   When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say that your return was submitted.  The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected.  If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.   Does your TT account say that your return was accepted?  Or does it say something else—like “rejected”, “printed” or “ready to mail?”  If it does not say accepted then it was not filed unless you put it in an envelope yourself and mailed it.    TurboTax does not mail your tax return for you.     If your e-file was accepted:     If you chose to have your fees deducted from your federal refund:   Santa Barbara Tax Products Group, LLC  (SBTPG) is the bank that handles the Refund Processing Service when you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your refund. This option also has an additional charge from the bank that processes the transaction.  You can contact them SBTPG, toll-free, at 1-877-908-7228 or go to their secure website www.sbtpg.com  https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/2580357-who-provides-the-refund-processing-service         Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line. So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead. Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment". Then press 3 "for all other questions." Then press 2 "for all other questions." - When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything. - After it asks twice, you will get another menu. Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions. Then press 3 for all other inquiries It should then transfer you to an agent.         TAX ADVOCATE     See this article for more info on how the Taxpayer Advocate Service works:: http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc104.html   https://www.taxpayeradvocate.irs.gov/

Sorry each year is separate.   You can’t add your 2023 refund.  Unless you applied some or all of your 2023 refund to 2024.  It would be on your 2023 tax return line 26.    Did you file 2023?   If you efiled was it Accepted?  Only the IRS can tell you about your refund.  What does IRS say?   Did you go all the way through the File tab, through the 3 steps and hit the big orange Transmit Returns Now button?   When you efile you get back 2 emails.  The first email only confirms the transmission.  The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.  And check your spam folder for them.   When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc.  What does it say?
I just finished the free filing. When I downloaded my return, it shows no signature. Help please.  thank you.  Cynthia

The lack of Forms Mode in Online TurboTax would be a huge drawback for me.   At this point in time I personally haven't seen TurboTax outright state that the 2025 product won't install and work on Windows 10.   Granted, I don't see "everything."  😏   They may not even know yet since it's still in development.   The FAQ below says that they "may" restrict installation.   If they do, it's likely because they are hesitant about the lack of security updates for many people using Windows 10 (although apparently one will be able to purchase a security subscription for Win 10 from Microsoft.)     FAQ:  How does the end of support for Windows 10 affect my TurboTax Desktop experience? https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/download-products/end-support-windows-8-affect-turbotax-experience/L4v9atO3O_US_en_US
