I HAVE TO VERIFY MY IDENTITY     Sometimes the IRS chooses returns randomly to request verification of identity and sometimes there is something on the return that triggers the request.  No matter why the IRS has required you to verify your identity, you need to follow their instructions in order to receive your refund.  If you do not verify your identity you will not get your refund.   https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tips/security/tips-for-handling-identity-verification-requests-from-the-irs/L55RhaS2B   https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/identity-verification-for-irs-letter-recipients

Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities.  There is no rule as to which one will come in first or how long it will be between their arrival in your account.   TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.      First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/   Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.   You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2024 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds   To track your state refund:     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr   If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/refunds-take-longer-others/L14YlqFrH_US_en_US?uid=lexdr7zh . https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst

Hello Robert,   First sorry for late reply. I hope that I am done with this self-employment for earning SS quarter. I also talked with live turbo tax, tax expert, he said, ask your employer to withhold extra tax per paycheck to cover additional tax and avoid estimated tax payments for current year, so I did that, hoping no future problems.  Thank you, all for great advice. @GaryZumbo  Are you using the Windows or Mac version? Is the file password-protected or if Mac version, encrypted in keychain access?   Does the error occur when launching the TurboTax program, or does it happen after TurboTax has launched and you try to open the tax data file to work on it?   How are you trying to open the file?   It's not recommended to double-click on it to launch TurboTax.   It's best to launch TurboTax first, and then use the program interface to open the data file.   Be sure you are trying to open a *.tax2024 data file and not a PDF or a tax data file from a previous year.   See this FAQ:   FAQ:  Error 102345 or Error 1932147737 occurs while opening a tax file https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/diagnostics/error-102345-error-1932147737-occurs-opening-tax/L34iSfAt1_US_en_US

So can we assume correctly that this is for a tax year 2022 return that you filed in 2023?   Two years is indeed a long time to be that patient.  Is there more to the story?  Have you checked on it previously?   In those 2 years have you had conversations with the IRS and/or the Taxpayer Advocate Service?     What does the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool show when you choose tax year 2022? Does that tool show if your 2022 Federal refund was ever sent by the IRS? https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund

Thank you for the reply.     I had not thought about that as a means of troubleshooting this problem.  If I click the magnifying glass on the 1040 amount, it opens that same amount on line 4b of the 1040/1040SR worksheet.  If I hit the magnifying glass icon on that value, a popup window to "Add Form 1099-R" opens and asks me if I want to create a new copy,   So it seems like it has a value that it thinks is there.  I am not sure where that value comes from since it does not match the actual 1099-R value that I am trying to enter.  In any case, TT thinks there is an existing value that is not linked to any source data.

did you pay estimates? was you prior year's tax liability accurately entered? if the IRS data differs from what you entered, then there will be a difference between what Turbotax calculates and the IRS.  not sure this is covered by the accuracy guarantee, but you can always file a claim. https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/intuit-account-billing/submit-claim-turbotax-100-accurate-calculation-100/L88SYklBL_US_en_US

are you someone's dependent because that rejection code indicates someone claimed you as a dependent on their return? if you were a dependent you must so indicate on your personal info page. if not, then you must paper file your returns because this is not a correctible issue that would allow you to e-file. A state return cannot be e-filed if the federal is rejected or paper-filed.
