I actually found a "check" box that was there for entering the QCD amount. I don't think last year's version of TT had that. It was a question, not a list of "check" boxes - 1 of which is for a QCD entry. I found that while waiting for an answer to my question. But thanks for letting me know. Frankly, the less of the changes to the process from year-to-year, the easier to complete the new year's return. I know that tax law changes may make that impossible, at times, but I don't believe there was any change in the law w/r/t QCDs. That's a hint! Just saying! I'm retired from programming. So, been there and done that. -:) Bob

Your capital loss carryover from the previous year is first used to offset any capital gains from the current tax year (2025). If the capital loss still exceeds that capital gains, then up to $3,000 can be used to offset other income. The program does the calculation for you.

Please read publication 526. The IRS says that if you donate a single item or group of similar items valued over $5000, you must have a signed form 8283 and a signed appraisal. The IRS does not give any further instruction on what "a group of similar items" means, but it does say that you need the signatures even if you donate the items to different charities on different days. You will have to decide if you donated one group of similar items, or more than one group. If you decide that all your items were one group of similar items, you have to stop at $4999 since you don't have signatures. If you decide that your items are in more than one group, and each group is less than $5000, then you will probably need to file by mail, and you will need to keep copies of your documents in case of audit.

Yes, here are the exact steps to get to the carryover screen.
Go to Federal > Deductions & Credits.
Scroll to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid.
Click Start/Revisit next to Foreign Taxes.
TurboTax won't ask about old credits until it thinks you are filing a Form 1116 for this year.
Take a Credit: When asked "Do you want the deduction or the credit?", select Take a Credit.
Simplified Limit: If it asks about the "Simplified Limitation" (usually for taxes under $300/$600), say No. You must say No to generate Form 1116, which is where carryovers live.
Income Type: Select Passive Income (this is the most common for dividends/interest).
Add a Country: You must add at least one "country" to move forward. If you don't have new foreign income, you can select "RIC" (Mutual Funds) or any country you had income from in 2024.
Enter $0: On the screens for "Foreign Income" and "Foreign Taxes Paid," enter $0. This satisfies the software's requirement to "fill out" the form without adding new taxes.
After you click Continue through 5–7 more screens (past questions about "Foreign Losses" and "Reports"), you will finally see a screen titled:
"Do you have any Foreign Tax Credit Carryovers?"
Select Yes.
On the next screen, you will see a grid for years 2015–2024.
Find the 2024 row.
In the Foreign Taxes box, enter the total amount from last year ($4,880).
In the Amount Used box, enter the amount you actually used in 2024 ($3,380).
TurboTax will then correctly identify the $1,500 as your carryover for 2025.
