You didn't mention where you're seeing that or provide any context so I have to guess a bit. Are you looking at codes on your IRS tax transcript? If so, someone familiar with that will hopefully assist you in this thread during the day to explain its significance. And if a transcript, what tax year?

The “senior deduction” is added automatically by the software based on the date of birth and filing status you entered into MY INFO. You do not need to take any extra steps to enter it. (And…the new senior deduction has nothing to do with whether you are getting Social Security)
2025 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS
SINGLE $15,750 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)
MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY $15,750 (65 or older/legally blind +1600)
MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $31,500 (65 or older/legally blind + $1600)
HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD $23,625 (65 or older/legally blind + $2000)
For 2025 through 2028 there is an extra deduction amount of up to $6000 per individual 65 or older filing Single, MFJ, or HOH which is phased out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers.
(The deduction phases out completely at $175.000 Single or HOH, or $250,000 joint)
The $6,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b. It is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e. Turbo Tax automatically includes it.

If you provide the actual rejection error code you received, that will help ensure that folks who respond are on the same page in that regard. You mentioned "cross referencing." Have you looked at the dependent's actual Social Security card to be sure the card itself has no misspellings? And then compared the card to what was entered into TurboTax; i.e., that there was no typo, transposed digits or letters, etc.? Be sure to check both the SSN and the full name. It could be a problem with either one. If there's no error, you may need to phone the Social Security Administration to have them look at what's in their database. I'm a fellow user--not a tax expert. You may get more comments in this thread during the day when they are around.

Adding to my own post for everyone's benefit. This is the workaround I found to enter other education expenses. You go to the forms view, "Student Info Wk" form. In there above the table at the bottom, select the gray QuickZoom box to go to the "People Wks" form and enter any additional expenses as seen in the attached image. If someone thinks this is not the correct workaround or approach, I would appreciate your response. Thank you.
