Intuit extended it through last Sunday, I believe it's too late at this point.

What do you mean by a "deduction" from your retirement account. Do you mean that you took money out of a retirement account, such as an IRA or 410(k)? If that's what you did, you should have received a Form 1099-R showing the amount you took out. You enter the 1099-R in TurboTax under Wages & Income > Retirement Plans and Social Security. If you did not receive the 1099-R contact the plan administrator. You did not ask a question. Do you have a question about how to enter your Form 1099-R?   Are you adding to a tax return that you are still working on, or do you need to add something to a tax return that you already filed?

First, if your return was e-filed before the deadline, and then rejected, you have a chance to fix it.  If you can fix it and get it e-filed, then it will count as being on time.  If you can't fix it and e-file it, you need to print it and mail it in.  You can print and include a copy of your e-file receipt showing that you tried to e-file on time.  (Some rejected returns just can't be fixed, it's a problem with the IRS, and you just have to print and mail your return.)   If you mailed a payment, the IRS will apply that to your account, even if there is not a return on file yet.  When the e-filed or mailed return is processed, the IRS will apply the payment.  If you over-paid, the IRS will automatically issue a refund, but it takes a while.   Can you clarify why you paid $1800 if you only owed $500?  I don't understand that part of the question.    Please note that if you owed any amount of taxes, you will be assessed a late payment penalty plus interest, totaling about 1% per month, backdated to April 15, even if you got an extension of the filing deadline.  An extension to file is not an extension to pay.

Concur, 100%, and it just goes to demonstrate that there are DIY income tax prep software users who should NOT be using DIY income tax prep software.    In the case of TurboTax, of course there are software issues, but the vast majority are simply user error.

Answered in your previous post of the same question. If you have further questions please continue the discussion in the other thread so that all of the information is in one place.

Really glad to see all these comments relative to the Win11 announcement.  I'm very disappointed in their decision to force desktop users to either upgrade to Windows 11, or use your cloud based service.  This decision is clearly driven by a relationship between intuit and Microsoft, and not of a technical nature.   I have been a user of Turbotax desktop for decades, but will be looking to switch to one of the competitors for my 2025 tax return and subsequent.  And, I guarantee I will not be the only one with this decision.
I didn't realize that the program was being discontinued. How can I get the information that I had entered earlier this year?

Update:  I finally got this resolved, but it took 4 years, hundreds of hours on the phone and help from TAS for over a year. Seems the IRS  lost the money that was stolen - over $8000. Hard core trace failed and they had to go to account restoration. I never got refunded for the interest and penalties that they charged me for deducting it from my taxes. Nor did I get compensated for all the time I spent trying to get help from the IRS. I will never be able to file my taxes without a huge amount of anxiety. I have lost several thousand dollars and my trust of the IRS and the useless staff. TAS was very helpful but they had a lot of trouble getting cooperation from the IRS.

Lots of users have more than one account.  An "old" account that you have might be generating those marketing email reminders.   If you know that you prepared a 2024 return, filed it, and it was accepted and processed, and that you paid your tax due, you can ignore the marketing emails.

If you are younger than 59 1/2, you will pay a 10% early withdrawal penalty, plus ordinary income tax.   If you are 59 1/2 or older, you do not have that easy penalty but you pay ordinary income tax.   You are taxed at the same rate for which you are taxed for your other income.   You get a 1099R in late January/early February which must be entered on your tax return.   The software calculates your total income, the total amount of tax that has been withheld from all of that income, and determines if you get a refund or owe more.  You say you will take $50K but do not mention what other income you are receiving so we cannot tell you how much tax you will owe all together.

Seriously, it's comical. If you missed the Depreciation section, that's on you. That is why Turbo lists all categories as you conduct your deductions. I've used the Depreciation section for rental for years as has my dad on his rental without any issue, so I would say it's more you failed to review the sections.
