Is there a solution if you can't install the software on your machine if the developers make that choice?

My employer contributed $3,300 to my HSA while I contributed $1,000 (auto deduct from my paycheck). On the "Let's enter your HSA contribution" page there are two questions, 1) What's in Box 12 of W-2 from your 2025 employer and payroll contributions? 2) Contributions I made personally (not through your employer)? Because I imported my W2, it auto populated $4,300 to the first box.  Is that correct? Also, what is the 2nd question asking, did I personal add more money to HSA without having my employer deduct from paycheck? Do I need edit the 1st box to be $3,300 (doesn't seem to allow editing) and then add $1000 to the second box? Thanks

Hi. My wife and I are both over 65 but there is no age deduction amount displaying on our State Income Tax Form 760 lines 4a and 4b. What could cause that? Thanks.

Hello I did put part time resident and made sure wages were accurate. I was just surprised that I ended up having to pay in when my friend makes a little bit more than me and got 300 back. Could being a part year resident my first year in NC be the reason I had to pay?
Its telling me today i should get my refund

I understand but the fact is that the providers of tax software are going to have their developers use the latest OS for their desktop products. I'd be surprised if the other two major DIY tax prep software developers continue to support Windows 10 for the 2026 tax year.

You would have to ask your employer for clarification to determine if the work you do qualifies for the overtime deduction.   I'm not sure what the notations on your W-2 mean. For your overtime to qualify for a tax deduction, your work position would have to be covered under section 7 of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). That basically means by law your employer is required to pay you a minimum of time and a half for work beyond 40 hours in a week. You can read more in this IRS article.  It is mostly for workers that get paid by the hour.   You can read more in this TurboTax article.

Hi, I used TT Online premium to file Federal and AZ returns. Both were filed and accepted.  AZ allows 25% deduction of capital Gain for the items acquired after 2011. I had Capital Loss carry over. In the online filed it asked me what portion of Capital Gain/loss was after 2011. I entered number without negative sign. Loss doesn;t get deducted and it was my error that TT didn't catch. This error was state specific.I tried to amend the return and TT generated 1040X with no changes and new 140X(AZ return). Trying to eliminate 1040X I try multiple amendments and now I still have 1040X. Also, my 140(AZ Return) shows new correct amount instead of original wrong amount. However, my 140X shows correct amount. My question is how do I delete 1040X without affecting original 1040. How do I correct 140  to it's original form and leave 140X as it is? I have tried using amend return/ add state but I can not achieve what I need. Thanks in advance. Also my original efile had bank account information after multiple amendment bank information is XXXXX. How can I correct that?

After more googling, it seems that the consensus is to split the form 1099-R, but I haven't found a post that clearly says how to split it, eg. whether all the fields except Box 1, 2a and 5 stay the same or not on the two split forms, whether Box 2a or 5 should be $0.00 or empty in one of the form, whether Box 2b should be checked or not, etc.   For example: In ONE 1099-R for rollover from 401k to traditional IRA AND Roth IRA , one user says to use different distribution code for each of the split forms. In How do you report a split rollover in your tax return? , one user says that box 2a should be 0, while another says that H&R Block Deluxe handle the 1099-R without problem. In Single 1099-R for 401K distribution rolled to two separate destinations says even less.   Does anyone have a list of step on how to split the form? Thanks, George

Not yet.  The development team has been working very hard to get the CSV import tool up and running for this year and it is not ready yet but it will be soon!   In the meantime, if you have to file right away, you can enter your sales in categories - all of your short term transactions added together and all of your long term transactions added together - and then you can print form 8453 and your crypto transactions and mail just those in while filing the rest of your return electronically.
