Be careful. That question did not ask if YOU paid over half. It asked if your toddler paid over half. Say NO.

None. Was at least half of child's expenses paid by CHILD? Usually is NO, Child didn't pay for more than half of their living expenses. It's not asking if you paid more.

Try entering the amount in box 1 for the RMD question for pensions It's always been that way when entering a pension. Update. I found my note..... For a pension, it's whatever they send you. Say all of it is the RMD. If you have a RMD requirement it will ask you if it is the RMD. Say yes and enter the amount as the RMD amount. The pension doesn't need to calculate any RMD. Anything your pension pays you is considered to be the RMD. Traditional pensions automatically fulfill the rules of an RMD. So just enter the same amount in box 1 for the RMD for each 1099R.

If you took out a Loan from the 401(k), that is not reported on a tax return and you would not receive a Form 1099-R for the loan amount.

What do you mean by "extra"? --- Your 1099R will show how much you took out of your 401k in 2025. They do not send you a separate "extra" document.

Thank you for your response. I'll have to do more research, since TT is not allowing the deduction due income not having it 'reported' on a 1099.

If your refund is enough to cover your TurboTax fees PLUS the extra “refund processing” fee of $40 ($45 in CA) and your forms are ready then when you are in the FILE section you can choose to have your fees deducted from your federal refund by a third party bank, who will take out your fees and send you the rest of your refund after the IRS issues the refund.
Please make note that if your refund takes too long to arrive (IRS delays, etc.) then you will also be agreeing that the TurboTax fees can be extracted from your bank account even before your refund is issued by the IRS. This comes as an unpleasant shock to many people every year.
If you can possibly pay your fees upfront using a debit or credit card, it will save you that extra fee and even more importantly, the possible aggravation and delays that are often the result of poor handling/poor customer service by that third party bank. We see way too many instances where refunds are delayed for months when users choose refund processing. There have been lots of complaints; there are a number of things that can go wrong when you use refund processing. I suggest avoiding that situation if at all possible.
And....you can never pay state tax due from a federal refund, so do not expect that. The state tax due has to be paid directly to your state.
What is Refund Processing Service?
How can I see my TurboTax fees?

I got two W-2 pages from my employer and it seems like my Gross pay is split between the two pages equally. The only differences between the two is in boxes 18, 19, and 20.

NEW requirements this year for my 30 year old 401a. Turbotax asks what method I used to calculate the taxable amount. Duh! ---The 1099R says what it is in box 2a. It also asks for 30 year old data on my contributions (I need a time machine.) I am considering faking this by reducing the gross amount to the taxable amount, but looking for better suggestions. Thanks, folks.
