@ subhashtatavarty asked: "The TurboTax portal is not showing the 2024 return .tax file. I filed using the TurboTax desktop app. I need to amend 2024 tax return. How to get Turbotax 2024 tax file? The TurboTax app needs an exclusively TurboTax file to amend 2024 taxes. Please advise on how to get the file for 2024" Does "portal" refer to the desktop TurboTax interface, or are you looking at your Online TurboTax account? A *.tax2024 data file prepared in desktop TurboTax will not be in an Online account. If desktop TurboTax is what you mean by "portal", then by "not showing" are you referring to the large rectangular shortcut icons once the 2024 program launches? If the shortcut to the 2024 tax file is dissociated from the interface, it will appear there again once you open the 2024 data file when you find it. If you used desktop TurboTax software for the 2024 return, was it the Mac or Windows version? In Windows, the default folder for the tax data file is the Documents\TurboTax folder, but you could have saved it somewhere else. Search your entire system for any file ending in *.tax2024 and also check the Recycle Bin. If you are using Windows and have multiple Windows user accounts (such as Admin, etc.), do the searches from within each one of those user accounts. Also check external storage and any cloud storage you use. I have seen a couple of rare user anecdotes where the tax data file ended up unexpectedly in OneDrive.

So it seems the IRS only sent you part of your federal refund? Did you check with the state to see if they only got the 1 payment you mailed and didn't get 2 payments? So we can disregard the state tax due. For federal are you looking at your actual 1040 return line 35a for the refund amount? Then minus the fees including the extra $40 Pay with Refund service charge? And you are still missing the exact same amount as the state tax due? How much does the IRS say they sent you before the fees were taken out? There are a lot of reasons why they could have sent you less. If the IRS adjusted your return they will mail you a letter in a couple weeks. Just by chance do you get Social Security? One common reason is your return didn't get the right taxable amount of SS on 1040 line 6b and shows 0.

Is that the date you efiled it, or the date the IRS finished processing it and released the funds? What do you see at the IRS "Where's My Refund" tracker tool? https://www.irs.gov/refunds What message does it show? Did you choose any add-on option that uses a third-party bank as an intermediary to first receive your funds from the IRS, such as the "pay out of refund" option, the "up to 5 days early" offer, or Refund Advance?

Looks like you used the Desktop program? Sounds like you didn't finish filing the state return after paying for the state efile. You do get separate accepted emails, one for federal and one for State. And you can check the efile status directly in the Desktop program. Go up to File at the very top bar. Then Electronic Filing, then Check Status. And you can go to Forms mode and find the Filing instructions for federal and state. And if you save the pdf it will have filing instructions page and my Calif return has an E-file return authorization page. There may be other ways to check too.

When you filed, what did you choose for your Federal refund--direct deposit, or a check in the mail? If you chose to get a check in the mail, you may get a letter from the IRS. Did you have any add-on option that uses a third-party bank as an intermediary to first receive your funds from the IRS, such as the "pay out of refund" option, the "up to 5 days early" offer, or Refund Advance?

Your reply is correct for Federal Returns. There is NO similar confirmation process for STATE returns!

it’s the “Keogh, SEP and SIMPLE contribution, worksheet.” This is not W2 income, but rather partnership income and my K-1 reports $75,912 on line 13R and is accompanied by an attachment which breaks out that sum as being comprised of $30,912 as profit sharing contributions and $45,000 as 401(k) contributions. I am between ages 50 and 59.

Filed 2023 and 2024 State Income tax Returns in 2025. Paid State income tax for both years but received a Sate Refund for both years as well. Used TurboTax for both 2023 and 2024. Just transferred data from my 2024 TurboTax file to my 2025 TurboTax. 2025 State Refund Wks Part I - State and Local Income Tax Refunds from 2024 Tax Returns shows State, Refund Amount, and Total Payments and Withholding. Also, I manually entered State and Local Income tax Refunds for All Tax Years for 2024 and 2023 in Table above Part I. Wondering if I should complete Section 7 of Deductions & Credits, Estimated and Other Taxes Paid, specifically the Section titled "Other Income Taxes/Other Income Taxes Paid in 2025" - "Balance due on your 2024 state taxes paid in 2025" and "Payments for 2023 or a prior year state or local income taxes paid in 2025" I did it once and it added $824 (2023 State taxes paid when I filed my 2023 State Tax Return - paid in 2025), and $535 (2024 Sate taxes paid when I filed my 2024 State tax Return - Paid in 2025). However, it appears 2025 TurboTax thinks I paid $535 in 2024 State Taxes because it adds this amount as a payment after Dec 31, 2024, in the 2025 State Refund Wks Part I - State and Local Income Tax Refunds from 2024 Tax Returns. very confusing indeed... Help please 🙂
