There is a known (reported to developers) user interface quirk in the 2025 versions of TurboTax where the "Deductions & Credits" summary page has been showing a sales tax number, even if it isn't being used for your actual return. Along with this, there have been instances where the user interface shows that the standard deduction was chose, but the actual tax forms show itemized deductions if greater. To see what is actually happening:   Online: Go to Tax Tools > Tools > View Tax Summary > Preview my 1040. Look at Schedule A, Line 5.  Desktop: Just switch to Forms Mode. Check your Form 1040, Line 12e to see whether your return has the standard deduction for your filing status, or a larger amount for itemized deductions. The itemized deductions appear on Schedule A.   From the list of Forms shown on the left of the Forms screen, or the Preview of your tax return, find Schedule A. There, you can see which items are included in the total for Taxes You Paid, and whether you get the benefit of itemizing your deductions.    See this TurboTax tips article for more information about Schedule A and itemizing your deductions. @SHMbak

There are two separate PIN numbers that may be on your tax return. A 5 digit Pin and a 6 digit ID Pin.   What is a Signature ID https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/security-risk/signature-id/L9wjtyCkN_US_en_US   5 digit self selected pin https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/personal-identification-number/self-select-pin-ip-pin/L0CIgssLz_US_en_US   There are two separate PIN numbers that may be on your tax return. If your PIN has six digits, it's an IP PIN. Here's where to enter it:   Sign in to TurboTax Online. Select Other Tax Situations.  Select Start or Update to the right of Identity Protection PIN. Answer the first question Yes. Select  Add to the right of your name. Enter the number on the next screen. Continue your tax return.     The 6-digit Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN) is different from the 5-digit e-filing PIN, and is entered in a different place. Here's how to enter your IP PIN in TurboTax if you are e-filing. Click the Federal Taxes tab or Personal (Home & Business) Click "Other Tax Situations." Scroll down to the section "Other Return Info." Click the Start, Update, or Revisit button for "Identity protection PIN."   For security, TurboTax does not show the IP PIN on the printed copy of your return.

You should have saved a copy of your return if you prepared it with TurboTax. The tax return package would have information indicating how payment was to be made if you owed Federal taxes with your return.   If you paid more to the IRS than what you owed, the IRS will refund the excess back to you, unless you have outstanding taxes due on a prior year, in which case the excess will be applied to your prior balance first.   If you want to confirm what payments have been sent to the IRS for your 2025 taxes, go to the IRS Account for Individuals webpage. You can set up access to your account there and get information about any payments made toward your 2025 liability. . You can also make payments to the IRS directly without setting up the account.
Can you tell me where to enter the PIN in my Turbotax premiem reyurn? I eot a rejection due to this problem, Thank you very much!

No.  You misunderstood.  The state tax can not be deducted from the federal refund.  Never.  You can only have the Turbo Tax fees deducted.  You will still get the full federal refund minus any fees you had deducted plus the extra 40  Refund Processing Service charge (45 in California).   Turbo Tax just shows you a screen at the end showing the Net amount of federal and state combined.  But it is just for your own info.  You do still have to pay the state yourself separately.   See, https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/state-taxes/help/can-i-pay-my-state-taxes-from-my-federal-refund/00/26288   Check the printout or PDF of your return; look for the state cover sheet with the Turbotax logo.  If you owed tax, it will show the payment information and how/when you decided to pay.  Read the state payment instructions carefully since most states cannot be paid from within the TT system and requires additional steps. https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/refunds/help/what-are-my-options-for-getting-my-state-refund-or-for-paying-any-state-taxes-i-owe/00/25954

Please clarify. Were you expecting a refund for Iowa and didn't receive it? (The tax form you file is a return; if you overpaid tax, the amount you receive back is a refund.)   The Federal and State tax agencies are completely separate. If you have a refund coming from the Federal return and owe the state of Iowa, you will need to pay Iowa; the Federal refund can't be applied to a state.

Please clarify. Did you file a second amended return after a first one?   If you amend your Federal Form 1040, TurboTax will create a Form 1040X and a revised complete return to go with the Form 1040X.   Before you can file an amended return, the original return will need to have been processed by the IRS (refund issued / payment processed).    See here for more information on preparing an amended return with TurboTax and this help article for more information.   There are times when you should amend your return and times when you shouldn't. Here are some common situations that call for an amendment:    You realized you missed out on claiming a tax deduction or credit. You accidentally claimed the wrong tax filing status. You need to add or remove a dependent. You forgot to claim taxable income on your tax return. You realize you claimed an expense, deduction, or credit that you weren't eligible to claim. The IRS may take from 8 weeks to as long as 16 weeks to process an amended return. See this IRS webpage for more informaiton.

To make entries in TurboTax for charitable donations in general, follow the steps in this help article. A conservation easement is treated as a noncash donation, and is subject to additional requirements in order to qualify.   Four types of conservation purposes may qualify for tax deductions: protecting natural habitats, preserving land for public recreational or educational use, preserving open space, and preserving land or certified historic structures.   Property rights must be donated to a qualified conservation organization for conservation purposes and the organization must have the resources to enforce its restrictions. The easement must be in perpetuity, meaning it will bind all current and future owners of the property. An appraisal is necessary to determine the fair market value of the property rights being surrendered.    A number of conservation easement donation deductions have been challenged in court by the IRS. See this IRS webpage for information about abusive transactions involving charitable contributions of easements.   See this TurboTax tips article for more information.

It depends. If your residence is in one county but you spend a significant amount of time in another county, then just file a return for the county/state of your residence, unless you also earn income in the second location. If that's the case, then you may need to file a nonresident return for the other location.   If, instead, you lived in one location for about half the year and then moved your primary residence to the other location, then file a return for the first location as a part-year resident and then file a return for the second location as a resident.   For more information on this topic, see Multiple States—Figuring What's Owed When You Live and Work in More Than One State.

Some users report that TurboTax does not allow electronic filing of Oregon state returns even when the federal return transmits successfully. This is most likely to occur if you have a specialized or local tax form that isn't supported for e-filing. See this TurboTax online tool for the list of Oregon state forms and which are supported for e-filing.   If you have a form that isn't supported for e-filing, you will need to print and mail your Oregon return. Change the entry in the File section that indicates how you want to file the state return to show "mail". TurboTax will provide mailing instructions.

Try the steps in this help article:   You may receive a message like:   ZIP code is invalid for Electronic Filing. You must enter a valid ZIP code for your state. Enter a correct ZIP code in this format 'nnnnn' or 'nnnnn-nnnn'   TurboTax follows the IRS guidelines for acceptable ZIP codes. If the two-letter state abbreviation doesn't match the ZIP code, you'll receive this error when attempting to e-file.   If you receive this error:   Double-check you entered the correct two-letter state code Make sure you've entered the ZIP code in either 5-digit or 9-digit format (for example 12345 or 12345-6789) Look up the correct ZIP code for the street address in question
Sorry you can’t.   They only support and sell the last 3 years.   Even if you find it for sale somewhere you won’t be able to update it or download any state programs you might need.
