IMHO - I understand that Europe and Canada are being allowed to use TurboTax Desktop with W10 on their machines, so obviously W10 itself is not the reason that Intuit is aligning with Microsoft on this. There is a financial reason. I do not know if there is an an arrangement between MS and Intuit, but certainly it is very much in MS interest to force users to get to W11. A $ arrangement between the 2 companies would be my suspect. Is it more $ advantageous to Intuit to force desktop users to switch to online TurboTax? Maybe.

Clearly, there is some other rationale and, I suspect, it has something to do with liability or they just plain don't want to deal (customer service wise) with desktop customers running Windows 10.

Yes, you can use either the Online Premium version or the Desktop Home & Buisness version. Those use Quick Employer Forms https://quickemployerforms.intuit.com/home

Will any of the Turbo Tax versions allow me to create a 1099-NEC? If so, where would I find it on Turbo Tax?

I worked in the software industry and we always guaranteed our customers backward compatibility to the previous OS version. WIN 12 is still a couple of years away. I'm not hearing any technical reasons why TT cant work , they just wont let it. Shame on Intuit for forcing this issue.

Below is the reply I received from Inuit's Office of the President. They mentioned our concerns but were unwilling to do anything. Not a nice way to treat their customers. It seems that they are dismissive and disinterested in doing anything. I think that there are many customers like me who relied on ItsDeductible and are now left high and dry. Hello Dan, I am reaching out from TurboTax Customer Care on behalf of Intuit’s Office of the President. I am one of the specialized agents assigned to assist you. Thank you for taking the time to speak with me today. I am glad we were able to discuss your concerns in detail. As a recap of our conversation, we reviewed the discontinuation of the Its Deductible product and the frustration this has caused, particularly given your need to track multiple charitable contribution transactions and prepare for upcoming tax law changes. I acknowledged your feedback and confirmed that your concerns will be escalated to Intuit leadership for visibility and review. At this time, I advised that there is no alternative deductible tracking solution currently available. You also shared that, due to this change, you are considering using a different tax preparer that continues to offer a similar feature. If you need assistance in the future, please contact TurboTax Customer Support at [phone number removed]. Since your concerns have been addressed and documented, we will proceed with closing your case. Thank you for being a valued TurboTax customer. Respectfully, Shonda J TurboTax Customer Care

When beginning my tax file in the 2025 Home & Business Mac edition (Application version 2025.r15.020), it asks me to import last year's Turbo Tax file as a starting point, as usual. However, whenever I select the file and click the import button, all I get is an alert sound and nothing else happens. This repeatedly occurs whether I try to import the entire Turbo Tax file for 2024 or even the PDF files for the federal and state returns from 2024. I have done the import step many previous years with previous editions of Turbo Tax. But there seems to be a zero day bug or some kind of corruption in the desktop edition program. Please get dev team to fix this.
