Assuming you have a family HDHP starting on January 1, 2026, she can contribute the full year's amount ($8.750 + $1,000 if over 55 by 12/31/2026), provided there is no disqualifying coverage or change in coverage during the year (example, going from a family plan to a self-only plan).
However, to qualify, there are two deductible amounts that both must be met. Your info isn't clear on this matter.
For 2026, this means:
It has an annual deductible of at least $3,400 for family coverage It has an out-of-pocket maximum annual deductible, including out-of-pocket medical expenses, that does not exceed $17,000 for family coverage (premiums don't count towards this limit).
For 2026, you would have until the filing deadline for the 1040 to contribute. Generally, the filing deadline is 4/15 of the following year so 4/15/2027

The desktop version of Turbotax supports this form. I don't know if all versions of online support the form
If not, you'll need to prepare it manually and enter the amount as directed in the instructions
2023 can't be efiled. You'll need to print out the 1040-X (other supported forms and schedules that change will be included). Since Turbotax has no provision to attach a PDF or a manually created form, you'll have to do it

Thank you, @Mike9241, for the reply! I was not clear in my wording; both of us were never under in an HDHP and never had an HSA, my question pertains now to the benefits for a 2026 coverage. We were covered instead by a non-HDHP plan up to 12/31/2025, and are now covered as family in CareFirst BlueChoice Advantage HSA which states itself as an HDHP plan. (Overall deductible: In-Network: $1,800 individual/ $3,600 family; Out-of-Network: $3,600 individual/ $7,200 family.) As my own Medicare status does not allow me to contribute to an HSA, we would like my wife to open an HSA on her name to make deductible contributions with a family-limit. Assuming that we have an HDHP plan, does she have up to April 2026 to try meet the limit? Even if my CareFirst plan will send us its debit card, I cannot fund that HSA. Once my wife has an HSA, will we get a debit card to cover our family medical expenses? Best regards, @W16VA

When you are entering income on a joint return, every income entry screen will either have a spot with both spouse’s names there, or when you click to enter a W-2, 1099R, etc. it will ask you by name which spouse it is for. You do not have to wait for the software to “ask” you for your spouse’s income. Go to the screens to enter your spouse’s W-2’s, 1099’s, etc. just like you did for your own income. Then look for your spouse’s name there.

It sounds like the "Skip Import" and "Other" path was the key to bypassing the 1099-B requirement in the Premier version. Since you’ve successfully entered the cost basis and the $0 proceeds, the software should now correctly calculate your capital loss. Before you file, would you like me to help you verify if you should check the "Section 1244" box to potentially increase your deduction limit?

Hello, I am trying to install TurboTax Desktop (USA) on a new computer after a hardware replacement. I already own valid license/installation keys for prior years, but I no longer have the original CDs or installer files—only the saved tax data files (.tax/.tax20, etc.) and the product keys. Specifically, I need the download installers for the following U.S. TurboTax Desktop years: 2020 2021 2022 2023 2024 I found that TurboTax Canada provides official download links for past Desktop versions when a customer has a valid key (example below), but I cannot find an equivalent option or article for TurboTax USA: Canada reference: https://turbotax.community.intuit.ca/turbotax-support/en-ca/help-article/download-products/download-cd-download-edition-turbotax/L8NgOJdEs_CA_en_CA Can someone from TurboTax confirm: Whether official U.S. Desktop installer downloads for prior years are available, and Where I can obtain those download links using my existing license keys? This is critical to access and maintain historical client tax records on the new system. Thank you for your assistance.

Do you have any 1099-DIV from any mutual funds/ETFs that have Section 199A dividends, such as from real estate investment trusts? Some mutual funds/ETFs invest in such REITs as part of their fund portfolios. If so, those dividends can qualify for the QBI. If you have a 1099-DIV, does your 1099-DIV have an entry in Box 5? Or did you get a K-1 with Section 199A information with it? Form 8995 is currently scheduled to become available on 1/14/2026, but that is subject to change.
