Maybe you are waiting for some forms.  Click Review to see if you are missing some forms needed in order to e-file.   Many federal and state forms are not yet available.  Check here for form availability. The dates are subject to change.   Tax form availability tool     Be patient.    IF you e-file now, your return will go into “pending” until the IRS starts to accept/reject returns in late January. You cannot make any changes while the return is on the server. The IRS will start to accept/reject 2025 e-files on January 26.   And….a state return cannot be accepted until after the IRS accepts your federal return.

Using the TurboTax Free online editions as a test bed, entered information for a W-2 to include using box 12 with a code of D for 401(k) Deferrals and a deferral amount of $23,500.  Clicked on Continue at the bottom of the page without any errors being presented.   I am using Google Chrome  Version 143.0.7499.193 with no issues with the TurboTax online editions. If you cannot resolve this problem by changing browser, you will need to contact TurboTax support for assistance. You can find your capital loss carryover on last year's tax return.   Look at last year's Schedule D, specifically lines 16 and 21.   If line 16 (treat the loss as a positive amount) is greater than line 21, you have a carryover.      The IRS allows you to deduct up to $3,000 ($1,500 if married filing separately) of net capital losses against other types of income annually, and any unused losses can be carried forward to future years.    Also, if you used TurboTax last year, the amount, if any, should auto-populate for you.   Am I entitled to a capital loss carryover from last year's return?

The IRS will begin accepting and processing 2025 tax returns on Monday, January 26, 2026.    Since the IRS has not finalized all forms and instructions yet to reflect the new tax laws, TurboTax cannot finalize the software.   While you can start preparing return in TurboTax, the return cannot be officially e-filed until the IRS systems are open for the season.   Please note: If you start preparing your return now, be aware that the calculations made by the software may not be accurate and might change.    You can use this link to reference when specific tax forms will be available. You can search by TurboTax Product and for IRS and state-specific forms.

I have used Turbo Tax for over 30 years, has been very reliable and fairly easy to use. I will continue to use and recommend to others. This year I bought Home and Business 2025.  I installed on my main computer, but now I want to install on my backup computer, it says it needs Windows 11 or higher.  I do not see anywhere that warning before I bought the product.  How can I remedy this situation? It is a must that I have a backup computer with this or lower product.   How can I install this product on a Windows 10 computer.  I cannot update the computer, It's slow already. Thank you Elaine [phone number removed] [email address removed]

The IRS has not finalized all forms and instructions yet to reflect the new tax laws. TurboTax cannot finalize the software until after the IRS publishes all the necessary guidance.  TurboTax will then need time to make the updates to the software.    While you can start preparing return in TurboTax, the return cannot be officially e-filed until the IRS systems are open for the season.   https://www.irs.gov/individuals/understanding-your-cp59-notice     DID YOU E-FILE?   Did you e-file?   Did you go through all three steps of the FILE section and click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”     When you e-file your return you will get two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say your return has been transmitted; the second one will tell you the IRS has accepted  or rejected your federal e-file.  If you filed a state return, there will be a third email (usually a day or two later) that tells you if the state e-file was accepted or rejected.   Check your e-file status:   https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/    What does it say in your account?  Does it show that the return was accepted?   Or does it say something else---like "rejected," "printed," or "ready to mail?”   If you discover or realize that your e-file was rejected, you will need to print it, sign and date it in ink, and file it by mail now, since e-filing is closed for returns for tax year 2024. @megangwin

Hello,   I am reporting a consistent "Error 1101" blank screen glitch in TurboTax Online. The error occurs after inputting W-2 information when trying to proceed to the next section of wages or other income.   The glitch triggers specifically if Box 12 (401k contributions) is set to any amount above $23,000 (e.g., $23,500). The data entry itself works, but the moment I click "Continue" to move to a different income section, the screen goes blank.    I have attempted the following troubleshooting steps with no success: Clearing browser cache and cookies. Attempting the entry on multiple different web browsers. Currently, the only way to proceed to the next section of the return is to manually lower the contribution to $23,000, which is an inaccurate entry. It appears the system is failing to recognize the 2025 contribution limits.   This issue has also been reported by other users here on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/TurboTax/comments/1q9a95y/turbotax_crashes_when_i_try_to_complete_income/     Could the technical team please look into a fix for this navigation block?   Thanks!

This is unusual because TurboTax is supposed to optimize between the standard deduction and itemizing. This is true even if you entered them. The only way this should happen is if you checked the box "must itemize".  The only time this is necessary is if your filing status is married filing separately and your spouse itemized
Why is the IRS telling me I need to file my 2024 fed taxes when Turbo shows it was sent on April 9.
