Yes, as an Alabama resident, you can deduct real estate taxes paid out of state on your Alabama individual income tax return, provided you itemize your deductions on Alabama Schedule A. Alabama tax law typically follows federal rules, allowing you to deduct state and local property taxes paid on real estate you own for personal or investment use, regardless of which state the property is located in.
From the AL Form 40 instructions: "Real Estate Taxes (line 5). Include taxes you paid on property you own in any state that was not used for business. If you pay real estate taxes as part of your mortgage payments, do not take a deduction for that amount. Deduct the taxes in the year the mortgage company actually paid them to the taxing authority."

That number looks like it is a state id number. What are you trying to enter? A W2 or what? On a W2 The EIN employer ID number is in box b. It should be right above the employer's name.

I filed the first but forgot my renter's credit. It was accepted but I now fixed it and now it was rejected due to duplicate filing.

Same problem. As in past years, I divided tax-exempt interest and dividends between Ohio and XX Multiple States in TurboTax Premier desktop. But for 2025 taxes, my Ohio Schedule of Adjustments form, line 1 under Additions, is considerably understating the amount of "Non-Ohio state or local interest and dividends" that should be added back to my Ohio income. That had never been a problem in previous years, but it is a large difference for 2025. Please correct the coding error in handling tax-exempt income in TurboTax.

The Qualified Dividend and Capital Gain Tax Worksheet has always worked in TurboTax. Be sure to review all the forms and worksheets since it appears you are using TurboTax Desktop. If you are unable to locate the worksheet or tax calculations you can use the following to send your file.
If you would like to send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information it would help. If you would like to do this, here are the instructions: (Don't forget to give us the state)
TurboTax Online:
Open your return -Go to the menu panel on the left side of your return and select Tax Tools.
Then select Tools below Tax Tools.
A window will pop up which says Tools Center.
On this screen, select Share my file with Agent.
You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is. Click okay through this screen and then you will get a Token number.
Reply to this thread with your Token number and your state. This will allow us to open a copy of your return without seeing any personal information.
TurboTax Desktop:
If you like, you can send a copy of your return that will be scrubbed to eliminate your personal data by using these steps:
Click on Online in the top left menu of TurboTax Desktop for Windows
Select 'Send Tax File to Agent'* > Follow the prompts to reach the token number.
Enter your email used for TurboTax > Enter your code > Send
Write down or send an image of your token number and state then place in this issue.
We can then review your exact scenario for a solution.
Please also tell us any states included in the return. This is necessary for us to view the return.
*If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, 'Send Tax File to Agent')
We will be able to see exactly what you are seeing and we can determine what exactly is going on in your return to provide you with a resolution.

@Ptmmryan Yes, forms view is only available in the desktop software; you will not be able to override values in TTO (and this is not recommended, generally). Also, you scared me for a moment, so I went into TurboTax Online to verify that the warning screen does appear; it's this one, the second screen in the state return interview:
Once this page has been cleared, you will be able to complete and file your Idaho state return. Thank you for your patience.

The Interest Income Interview in TurboTax Home & Business provides a way to enter nominee information. When you select Continue after the first entry screen for an item, the question appears, "Do any of these uncommon situations apply?". Select the box, "I need to adjust the interest reported on my form". The Learn More link next to that option provides additional information about related topics including Nominee Interest. Click Continue.
The follow-up screen includes a box in which you can enter the amount you need to deduct from your taxable interest and to select the reason, including that you are a nominee. The additional information you entered will appear on the Form 1099-INT Worksheet you can see in Forms Mode. It also appears on Schedule B, Part I - Interest.
You are correct that the program isn't allowing the user to right-click in the description fields on Schedule B to add supplemental details under the Nominee Distribution. I will submit this issue for possible investigation.
