If you are unable to move forward in your TurboTax program you can try the steps listed below. Go out of your program, close your browser and go back in. Clear your cache and cookies. Click here for How to clear your cache. Click here for How do I delete cookies? Try a different Web browser, such as Chrome or Firefox. If you are using a VPN, disable it. If you are using a TurboTax Desktop program click the "Forms" icon in the top right. Scan the left-side form list for red exclamation marks indicating errors. Instead of just running the check, go to the Review tab and click on "Errors" in the top menu to see if it lists specific missing entries. Make sure your internet connection is strong and stable Try using incognito mode Try running TurboTax as Administrator If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you can manually check for updates for your TurboTax program by clicking on "Online" in the black bar near the top of your screen and selecting "Check for Updates." If the error persists but you cannot find ny errors, it is likely ok to go forward and file. You can also contact TurboTax Customer Service using this link: Turbo Tax Customer Service. Please return to Community if you have any additional information or questions and we would be happy to help.

You are correct that it uses the current year percentage, so if the business percentage varied, TurboTax does not handle the sale. While you could manually calculate and manually report the sale in the "Sale of Business Property" section, that usually causes other errors. In short, TurboTax is not set up to report the sale of an asset that varied in business percentage. Even IF they were to ever implement that ability, it certainly won't happen in this year's tax software. Personally, I highly doubt if they will ever implement that ability.

Of course nothing here addresses that TurboTax is putting the name on the form and associating it with the incorrect SSN. This is pretty typical of this software. Four years later and here I am with an 8995 form showing the wrong name and the wrong SSN and no way to link back and fix. Every entry should allow you to click and find the source!

If you want to make changes or add a document to a tax return that has already been filed and accepted by the taxing agency, you should follow these guidelines.
You must first wait until the initial return is completely processed. This means waiting until the payment submitted with the tax return has been processed, or your refund has been received.
You will have to use the same TurboTax account that you used for the original tax return.
Once you begin your amendment, you'll see your original return.
The refund calculator will start new at $0 and only reflect the changes in the refund or tax due
Only make changes to the areas of your return that need to be corrected.
You have three years from the date you filed your return or two years after you paid the tax due (whichever is later) to file an amendment

Return to the Schedule E topic and work through the interview completely. From the Rental Property summary page, choose to edit "Carryovers, limitations, at risk info, etc." under Less Common Situations. Answer any questions under this topic. Click Done at the bottom of the Rental Property summary page and work through the QBI questions, even if you don't claim QBI. You aren't finished until you return to the Wage & Income summary page. Now run Smart Check again. The form error should be resolved.
