@Aussie wrote: The punch line is the sale of the vehicle results in a loss based on the cost basis of vehicle x business use percentage.   I did not claim any auto expenses or SMR until a year or so after purchasing the car.   Because it was originally personal use and later converted to business use, and because that first calculation results in a loss, then you need to do a second calculation.  You do it again using the Fair Market Value when it was converted to business use (not original cost), and use the business percentage based on the total miles starting from when it was converted to business use (not the business percentage over lifetime ownership).

I installed a heat pump water heater in 2025.   When I enter in the information for the cost of the HPWH into turbotax, the 30% credit is not added to the form.  If I enter the amount paid as a heat pump, it works fine.   Anyone else having problem getting the credit for a Heat Pump water heater?

After following the steps you outlined in TurboTax to enter the 1099-INT "Nominee Distribution":   Q: What are the steps to issue the other person a new form 1099-INT and file it with the IRS?  Do I also have to file form 1096? And is filing the new 1099-INT (and form 1096?) with the IRS done through (snail) mail (versus through Turbo Tax)?

Within Schwab you may have to go into Security settings, then to Linked Apps and remove prior connections to Schwab. Open TurboTax and delete any 1099 connections to Schwab, then restart application. I had to do that to clear any old cache. Restart TurboTax and make connection and Import. May have to do a few times to see if Import worked. Also there should be data in PDF, XML and CVS. If not, in my case I had to contact Schwab support to re-load new files.

Yeah the trashcan doesn't work. I hit the trashcan and it opens a page to update my state return...not delete it.    I can't even go through with an option to "file later", it is trying to force me to file...but I can't because I don't qualify for the working tax credit....    This really needs to be fixed. I've been in this loop of attempting to file my federal for over an hour. Turbotax used to be easy.
I did not receive a K1 for money I inherited from a trust what should I do

Trying to complete Maryland taxes and noticed a 1500.00 credit for Quality Taught Incentive. Well, I am not a teacher and would like to have the credit zeroed out or the form deleted from the return.

Note: I have deleted form 5695 and answered all of the Home Energy Credit interview questions three separate times before posting this 'Request for Help' form Turbo Tax. After answering all the interview questions for deductions and credits for Home Energy Credits - Form 5695 is not being populated/filled out properly. The software is giving me credit for Solar Panel Project I installed; but it is not giving me credit for the Heat Pump Water Heater that I installed.  In the 'forms' area, Form 5695 is flagged with a red exclamation point, and is labeled as "(Not Done)". Upon inspection of the line items on the form, I noticed the following issues: Line 21a and 21b are not marked as Yes or No, even though I answered questions in the interview section as 'Yes' Line 21c has my correct address listed - BUT - it is Red Text on a Pink background (indicating some type of issue). Line 29h is filled in with a '0' - BUT - It should be filled in with '596' - BECAUSE - line 29g is 1,988 AND line 29h should be Line 29g multiplied by 0.30 (1,988 X 0.3 = 596). Line 30 should be 596 - BUT - it is '0' Since line 29h is improperly filled out with a '0'. HELP

Depending on what this is for, we can review rules and amounts. Would you please tell us more about your forms so we can help you?
