I've posted this in two other threads where the 5965 was rejected by IRS but I am wondering if my issue is unique. I went through the forms earlier this year and it says I get like $792 back.... cool that's what I expected!  Then after the update a few days ago it now says $0.  I have deleted and went back through the 5965 multiple times and it always says $0.  I decided to go through the form by form myself and found that they are not computing the credit correctly.  I REALLY don't want to wait on hold on the phone for a turbo tax employee; has anyone else seen this specifically and reported to them?

My original federal and missouri returns were accepted, but I had to amend both returns and now my missouri return shows "pending" but my amended federal return shows "rejected: return reviewed". Now, the "review again" button doesn't do anything. The federal return shows no errors when I rerun it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

To go back to a lower version or the Free Edition you can try to clear and start over https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/using-turbotax/help/how-do-i-clear-and-start-over-in-turbotax-online/00/26444 If you started your tax return in TurboTax Free Edition (Form 1040 with limited credits; roughly 37% of taxpayers qualify), you won't need to clear and start over. You can select Switch to Free Edition instead. In the Turbo Tax Free Edition, information that you can enter is limited now.  Why do I have to upgrade from the Free Edition? https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/upgrading/help/why-do-i-have-to-upgrade-from-free-edition/00/26379 Or try the IRS Free File program https://www.irs.gov/filing/free-file-do-your-federal-taxes-for-free A couple reasons it could be saying you need to upgrade…. You might be seeing this because of form 8959, that goes to Schedule 2. The amount of Medicare taxes withheld in W2 box 6 is not exactly 1.45% of the Medicare wages in box 5, due to rounding. I read a post that said to try leaving the cents off of the Medicare tax on your W2 box 6. Box 6 has to be exactly 1.45% of box 5 or less. If it is saying you need Schedule 3 and can't use the Free Edition it might be giving you the Retirement Savings Credit. You can say you are a student to decline the credit. You must answer Yes when asked in the Retirement Savings Contributions Credit section if your were a full-time student. The answer to this same question asked in the personal-information section is not the answer that is used.

If you were trying to Efile an Amended 2024 return, it may have rejected as it's too early for Efiling a 1040X for a prior year.   There's no rush to submit your Amended return.  It takes at least 12 weeks to process, whether Efiled or Mailed, and since it's the middle of the 2025 filing season, may take longer.   You should get an Email saying why your return was rejected, and also when you Sign In you should be directed to 'Fix Your Return'.  If you don't see either of these, it's probably for the reason I stated above.     You could try Efiling your Amendment later (April) or print and mail it now.   @Akram Khatib
It's forcing me to add "Max" and forcing me to pay like $80 when it started off as free?! They wait for me to input all my personal information, and then they want to stick it to me to pay!!!
Sold a second home my name was on given as a gift and now I need to answer questions about proceeds and previous owners cost basis ?
My error seems to be related to basic math:
The option to request a Refund Advance Loan has ended.  You can apply for a 5-Day Early Refund.   @chynawhyte
Thanks for your help you solved the problem by manually updating TurboTax
I followed the link suggested, asked the question there and found another forum entry with the same question.  I followed the steps details and it seems to have fixed the issue.

Honesty, these people writing in defense of Turbo Tax and AGAINST the self employed people are arrogant and dumb. The example of paying someone $45 to mow the lawn instead of $30 was just plain arrogant!  Do you think the self-employed are stupid?  We run a small LLC, two person, and get tip income.  Hourly rate is always $85/hour plus materials.  We ALWAYS keep track of TIP income and report it -- we have since the business started in the early 2000's.  We need to also because we don't want to pay sales tax on TIPS but we have to pay sales tax on regular labor income.  Do you think we don't know how to run a business?  We are EXACTLY the type of people whom the no tax on tips law was written for.  And to say that maybe we would commit fraud due to this is just plain asinine.  If someone wanted to do that they could have all along.
A reply I got from a tax expert on how to manually update TurboTax worked.  My tax return has now been accepted
I think it's because their math ain't mathin' - no matter what amount is on like 29g they put $0 for 29h when 29h is supposed to be 29g * 30%.... I guess I'm going to have to contact them about this;... See more...

I guess I'm going to have to contact them about this; luckily I was waiting only waiting for the DMSH election for my rentals so I noticed my return amount dropped from the last update.
