If you were going to report a state tax refund received in 2025 as income and reported on Form 1099-G, TurboTax would ask how much you deducted for state and local taxes in 2024 (on Schedule A).
A state tax refund from filing the prior year's taxes would only be taxable to the extent there was a tax benefit - i.e., you took an itemized deduction for taxes paid.
See this article for more information about Form 1099-G.

I just wanted to know where and how to download a Tax Program that I had already purchased. If Turbotax had employed AI, AI could have told me how to do it. Instead I waited over 30 minutes to speak to a human about just to find out how to download a program to my MAC desktop. If they had used AI, there would have been no delay.

I call BS. it’s the 21st now I believe and I’ve been struggling with this for weeks. I uninstalled everything and cleared my entire tax form which was complicated this year, but I need to file because I need my refund, and I’m still getting this stupid that you can’t file yet message because of the form. What a pathetic generic answer.

The message "Success! TT has the data" is not correct. The data is trapped on the browser page, in my case hidden, along with an "import" button. Scroll the browser page to see if you can find it. In my case, locating and hitting the "import" command resulted in the data flowing into TT. In prior years, the TT server talked directly to the financial institution and things worked the way they are supposed to.

@ RK-S wrote: I feel your frustration. I had this happen last year... then I tried to e-file my taxes a couple days ago for this year, and rejected again. I think this is a TurboTax software hiccup. Im using the desktop version (both years) and intentionally checked this year as I was moving through the review stages that both my spouse's and my ID were entered correctly. Still rejected on the first attempt. About to try again... wish me luck. You mentioned checking and entering the "ID". Since this thread is about IP PINs, I'll assume that by "ID" you are referring to a 6-digit IP PIN and subsequent IP PIN rejection as in the title of this thread. If you haven't changed anything, it most likely will reject again. Did you and your spouse receive this year's IP PINs from letters the IRS mailed to you a few weeks ago? If so, in some of the early letters the IRS sent incorrect IP PINs in their mailings prior to January 6. There's a message inside the online IRS account with that warning and advising people who got those early letters to use the new IP PINs showing in their online IRS account.

I have two 1099-R's from the same payer. On TurboTax Desktop I have filed out the information required for both and they show as two separate forms. Together, they make up the RMD total. There is a Form 5329-Tthat shows the RMD being double. Somehow this form doesn't reconcile the two partial distributions as one and shows the correct RMD under distributed and then.. an equal amount as undistributed. How do I delete this undistributed amount?

I've been using TurboTax for years and this year it's asking: "If My Wife's PSRS account was subject to a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), we need to know the amount that was required to be distributed by December 31, 2025 from this PSRS." I have to enter an amount. 1. I don't know if it is subject to a RMD, and 2. Do I enter $0 or the entire Gross Distribution from the 1099? Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi all, A warning to everyone printing their return from TurboTax Desktop Mac--there is a huge bug in the software. When you choose print, if you select returns for filing or returns for your records, you get the option to print only your federal return by unchecking the checkbox next to state return, or just your state return, by unchecking the federal return box. BUT, in the current (2/21/26) version of Turbotax Desktop Mac, that doesn't work. If you uncheck the state return box, it won't print the state instructions, but it WILL print your entire state return after your federal return. Likewise, if you uncheck the federal return box, it will still print the entire federal return, just not the federal instruction page. This is a huge, ridiculous, embarrassing, wasteful bug—Intuit, please fix this right away!! Tax filers across the country could potentially be printing millions of extra pages of tax forms, not to mention paying twice the postage to mail in their returns if they don't realize that their state or federal tax return was erroneously printed.

Thanks Monika, it just seems ludicrous to me that 1040ES IRS form which was finalized by the IRS on 2/12/26 the best that I can tell, takes Turbo Tax two weeks to update when the only thing they say was wrong with it was the mailing address for the form was inaccurate for a certain segment of the country. And while I could go to the IRS site and print my own 1040ES forms, why should I have too? I could choose cheaper tax software than TurboTax but haven't to this point. Thanks again for your response.

You can edit your choice as long as you haven't yet filed your return. If you already filed, you would need to amend your return after it has been fully processed (refund received / payment processed). Form 1040X to amend a 2025 return is expected to become available on February 25, 2026.
You can get back to your screens for the Trump Savings Account to edit your choices using the steps below.
If you are using TurboTax Desktop:
Click on the Tab "File" in the gray bar across the top of your TurboTax screen
Your screen will say, "Let's get ready to file your taxes"
Select "Continue"
Your screen will say "We recommend E-Filing Your Federal Return"
Select "Continue"
Your screen will ask, "Do you want to sign up?"
Select "Not Interested"
If you are using TurboTax Online:
Click on "File" in the left pane of your TurboTax screen
Your screen will say, "Just three more steps and we'll file your returns"
Click on "Start" or "information,"
Go through these screens regarding your bank information etc. until you see the screen that says, "It's time to claim xxxxxxx's$1,000 initial deposit"
Select "Not Interested"

@ Notworking1 wrote: Okay so I solved it but it didn't make much sense. So the number on the letter was rejected, but if you use id.me and sign into your IRs.gov profile there was a different ID number and when I tried that one it worked. "the number on the letter was rejected" The IRS sent out some early letters this year with the incorrect IP PIN. As a result, when people logged into their IRS account, they were greeted with a warning notice in the Online IRS account that said they had sent out some letters prior to January 6 that had incorrect IP PIN numbers. So they warned people who were logging into their accounts that if they had gotten one of those early letters with a wrong IP PIN, that the IP PIN had been changed and to check a page in the IRS account to see their updated IP PIN. I haven't logged into the IRS account lately, but I presume that warning about a possible incorrect IP PIN is still visible at the top of the landing page.
