If that doesn't work you will have to print and mail your return. Or request a transcript from the IRS https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

First LOG OUT of whatever TurboTax account you're logged into right now. Then use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of user ID's for an email address. Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery/ If you used the Desktop CD/Download program then the only copy is on your computer and not saved or stored online. You don't mail details to the IRS if you supply details on your e-Filed tax return. Manually enter that 1099-DA explicitly . It should then appear on Form 8949. @lb93

Turbo Tax opens in Forms mode with error code 25300. I've just started my return, already a problem. I've closed and reopened the app. Same error code. Dead in the water.

You hit the nail on the head! I was just going to reply with the same. "When you make an IRA contribution while also receiving SS, there is a separate worksheet". Sure enough, that worksheet is there.. it's literally called "Social Security Recipients Who Contribute to a Traditional IRA Worksheet" ! Sorry for all the back and forth.. but I'm very glad to finally know what was happening. Many thanks for bearing with me!

What about Schedule D? Why do you want to override it? Do you have a carryover loss? Will this help? Line 16 will be your total loss and line 21 should be a max loss of 3,000. The difference between line 16 and 21 is the carryover loss for next year. If it didn’t transfer over from last year then Enter a Capital Loss Carryover under Federal Taxes or Personal (Home & Business) Wages and Income Then scroll down to Investment Income Capital Loss Carryovers - Click Start or Revisit If you use Turbo Tax next year the Capital Loss Carryover will transfer over. Or you will have to manually enter the amount.

If you owned and rented out residential real estate, you will enter all of your rental income and expenses in the Rental Properties section of TurboTax. TurboTax generates Schedule E to report this activity. Where do I enter income and expenses from a rental property? If your rental property is located out-of-state, make sure you first set up that state properly in My Info (TurboTax Online) or Personal Info (TurboTax Desktop). That way, when you do your state taxes, we'll be ready to go. If you paid rent, that may be asked for a state return, but not on your federal return. Am I eligible for a state renter's tax credit?

@savannahp wrote: i just need to speak with someone about an amendment Questions about an amended return can probably be answered in this forum. If you wish, you can start a NEW thread about your issue at the link below.. At that page the subject line is for a summary title of your issue and has a limited number of characters. Something ilke "Need help amending YYYY return " or so, and include the tax year you are amending. Below that subject/title line is a message box that will let you include relevant details. But remember this is a PUBLIC Internet forum, so don't post any personal information. https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/forums/postpage/board-id/203 "i just need to speak with someone about an amendment" If you actually want to speak to TurboTax Support, here's how to reach them: Hours are 5AM-9PM Pacific, 7 days per week https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/contact/

@HDekkers While I'm fairly clueless about IRAs and why that would matter.....(((as long as you still have working income allowing you to contribute to an IRA...))) _______________________________ Look at your Forms list in Forms Mode. When you make an IRA contribution while also receiving SS, there is a separate worksheet that gets created that appears to replace all those blank lines on the SS benefits worksheet. In my Windows Desktop, that new worksheet shows up waaaay down near the bottom of all the Federal forms, just after US Averages. It's labelled IRA SS Wks on my Forms list.

Did you efile or mail it? If you efiled was it Accepted? When you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile. Check back though your emails and spam/junk folder. When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc. What does it say?

A couple reasons could be saying you need to upgrade…… You might be seeing this because of form 8959, that goes to Schedule 2. The amount of Medicare taxes withheld in W2 box 6 is not exactly 1.45% of the Medicare wages in box 5, due to rounding. I read a post that said to try leaving the cents off of the Medicare tax on your W2 box 6. Box 6 has to be exactly 1.45% of box 5 or less. If it is saying you need Schedule 3 and can't use the Free Edition it might be giving you the Retirement Savings Credit. You can say you are a student to decline the credit. You must answer Yes when asked in the Retirement Savings Contributions Credit section if your were a full-time student. The answer to this same question asked in the personal-information section is not the answer that is used.
