You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed, nor can you stop it.  It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox on the corner.  The IRS does not allow you to take it back.   If you left out a W-2, a 1099G, or a dependent, or a 1099 etc…DO NOT change your return while it is “pending.”  The changes will go nowhere.   Now you have to wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return.  If your return is rejected, you will be able to go into your account and make the necessary changes to your tax return and re-submit your return.     If the IRS accepts your return, however, then you have to wait longer until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund.  THEN you can prepare an amended tax return and e-file or mail  it in. You have to be able to work from that return exactly the way it was when it was e-filed originally.  You will need to use a form called a 1040X.     Meanwhile, DO NOT go in and start changing anything on your return in the system, or you will make a mess for yourself.  Sit tight and wait until you see what the IRS does with the return you just e-filed   The Form 1040X is scheduled to be available on February 19.   The date is subject to change, so check on 2-19 to see if it is ready.   Before that, do not change anything at all on your return.

Are you referring to the Dependent Information Worksheet or the Student Information Worksheet?  If you can share the error you're receiving, we'll try to help.   Here's more info on OBBB changes for 529 education spending (one takes effect for 2026, one after 7/5/2025):   529 Plan Expansions: Higher Withdrawal Limits: Starting in 2026, the annual limit for tax-free 529 withdrawals for K-12 tuition and expenses doubles from $10,000 to $20,000 per year. Expanded Eligible Expenses: For distributions after July 4, 2025, 529 funds can now cover curriculum materials, online learning tools, tutoring, standardized test fees (e.g., SAT/ACT), and dual-enrollment costs. Vocational & Credentialing: 529 funds are now eligible for workforce training, certifications (e.g., HVAC, cosmetology), and continuing education required for professional credentials. If you received a Form 1099-Q and the distribution was used entirely for qualified education expenses, you don't need to enter it in your return.   @arrainey31

We have tested transferring and entering Form 1099-R using TurboTax Home & Business but are unable to reproduce the experience you have seen. It would be helpful to have a TurboTax ".tax2025" file to test this issue further.   If you would be willing to send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information, please follow these instructions:    In TurboTax Desktop, open your return and go to Online in the TurboTax header. (On a Mac computer, choose Share or Help.) Choose Send Tax File to Agent. You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is.  Click Send on this screen and wait for the Token number to appear. Reply to this thread with a screenshot of your Token number (this avoids Community filters for numbers with a dash) and tag (@) the Expert requesting the token from you. Please include any States that are part of your return - this is VERY important. We will then be able to see the same experience you are having. If we are able to determine the cause, we'll reply here and provide you with a resolution.

What about if you go above that 5250.00 and then they tax the taxes out on your checks.  Can you claim anything on the extra taxes that you paid in?

How can I fix lines 17 and 18 after submitted to the IRS
You can call cross river bank and they will confirm if they have your refund: 877-552-7255 press 2 and then press 4, for all other ACH matters

@pendragon65 "last year" in 2025 you filed a 2024 tax return.    Scroll up from your own post  in this thread and read what it says.
It sounds like you just need to make an adjustment that does NOT include the mortgage. The mortgage balance does NOT factor into the gain/loss equation.
Update: I received my CA refund from Cross River Bank on 2/9. My federal refund was also already deposited to my bank on 2/11.

You received an email that we cannot see that tells you why your tax return was rejected.   Some rejected returns can be fixed and re-filed.  Some have “un-fixable” reasons for the rejection and have to be mailed instead.    What is the rejection code or rejection message?     If it was rejected for AGI—-your 2024 AGI might not be in the IRS system if you filed late.   Try using zero instead.   If filing with zero is rejected then file again but select the option that you did not file last year.  The IRS does not see that question and it will allow you to e-file with no AGI question.     https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/agi/help/where-do-i-correct-my-agi-in-turbotax-online/00/26311   If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.

My 1099-R on line 1 (gross distribution) and line 2a (taxable amount) have same figure and 2 b (taxable amount not determined) is checked. Some tax was paid Box 4 (federal income tax withheld) but need to pay more. However Turbo Tax is NOT calculating any tax liability. In fact it is wanting to refund the amount of tax previously paid. I looked at last year's 1099-R form and same boxes were checked and it did correctly show my tax liability. Any advice?
