Opus 17 - please clarify whether you intended your reply to apply to this particular situation, where the IRA has been stated be a ROTH. Is it not true that no taxes should be paid on a Roth IRA distribution that has satisfied the basic age and holding requirements?

We received the credit in 2008 in S.C. not D.C. I only see it mentioned when referring to the later.

Updating the same issue for attempted 2025 TurboTax Desktop installations on PCs with ARM processors: Although no specific processor limitations are noted anywhere when purchasing these products, it is readily apparent to me now that attempting to install and use TurboTax Desktop on a Windows 11 PC with ARM processor architecture will not be successful. I have a relatively new Microsoft Surface PC with a Snapdragon ARM processor. Although the program will seem to have successfully installed, when trying to activate it you will see a brief "splash screen" with the TurboTax logo followed by its disappearance. Trying various work-arounds such as disabling anti-virus software (Windows Defender), removing Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable files, trying various emulation tweaks, etc. will all be met with failure. There does not appear to be a reliable fix. This issue is not publicized anywhere unless you search the issue whereupon you will discover that you are not alone. I had to update and resurrect an old Intel x86 processor-based laptop to run the program. I don't expect Microsoft or Intuit to be addressing this incompatibility anytime soon and suspect that Intuit will continue to push utilizing their online products instead. Just another headache to add to the list!

VolvoGirl, You were right on that about no accessing other tax return as confirm by MarilynG1 (Employee Tax Expert) . Am I right to assumed she is an employee of Intuit?

IMHO, if he gets the credit, tell your cousin to pay you the $10. It's the least he can do for your generosity in establishing an extra computer account and letting him use your software. This is from the $10 credit terms: "Limited to one credit per license code and applies to the first in-product add-on purchase only regardless of number of product installations." For additional terms of that offer: FAQ: What is the TurboTax Desktop $10 credit available at wholesale clubs? https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/credit/turbotax-desktop-10-credit-available-wholesale/L052b4HXc_US_en_US

Hello! I have a partnership LLC registered in PA. I have received an income with 1099-NEC form from another partnership LLC in NJ. Do I need to file state taxes for both PA and NJ for my partnership LLC state return? If so, will I be eligible to get credit for one of the states for the taxes paid in another? How should I manage this in Turbotax Business Desktop software? Thank you!

The most galling thing about this is all the bot ads I get in my email inbox for Turbo Tax getting your tax refund fast, and they don't even have their forms done yet! How can they be so flippant with their customers. I opened up 2024 TT just to see what the depreciation section is supposed to look like. The only problem here is the other products are substantially inferior. Waiting.....

TurboTax keeps throwing an error when it checks my state form (Oregon OR-40), saying that I need to enter an apartment number. However my home is not an apartment, and there is no way to manually correct the error on the worksheet. I tried just leaving it blank, but it will not let me e-file until it is "fixed." Yet it won't let me fix it. I've checked and double checked my address info in both my Intuit profile and the "My Info" tab in the tax app, and it is correctly entered. I contacted a "tax expert," and while very nice, she was completely unable to help. (During our process she did verify that the address info was indeed correct.) After looping through the process with me several times and getting the same result, she came back saying that the form was not eligible for e-file, that I will have to delete my state form entirely, and file by mail. (I just checked the list using the Intuit App tool and OR-40 is supported and available. I decided to try a last ditch effort by signing out, clearing my browser cache and rebooting my computer. Then signed in fresh and re-entered my state info. Same result. :( The actual issue is definitely a glitch in the software that TurboTax seems unwilling to assist me with. 😕 I've been using TT for years and never had this much trouble.

You do not enter any individual transactions from your 529 plan or student loan. The administrator of the plan should send you a 1099-Q if you received distributions from the plan. Contact the 529 plan administrator to get the 1099-Q if you believe it is taxable. Only the earnings on the portion not used for qualified education expenses would be taxable, but you need those numbers from the 1099-Q to report anything. Click the link below to verify this.
Guide to 1099-Q
You will get a 1098-E to report any student loan interest you may have paid on your student loans.
