I started out the year with an ACA plan and a subsidy based on not having an estimated income for the year. In March, I subsequently found a job that offered a minimum value healthcare plan starting in May. However, because this plan was worthless (no prescription coverage, doctors not in-network), I chose to stick with the ACA plan. I updated my income in April after making this determination. I received two 1095-A forms. The first covered January through April, reflecting my high subsidy. The second, covering May through December, reflected a reduced subsidy based on my revised income estimate. However, because the employer plan technically met the minimum value standard, I believe I am not eligible for the subsidy I received from May through December. When filling out the 1095-A in TurboTax, I put the received subsidy amount, and TurboTax calculated, based on actual income and subsidy received, that I have to pay back $1655. But if I didn't qualify for a subsidy at all, the amount I should have to pay back would be $3429. Is there a cap that limits my payback to $1655 and not the full $3429? Is there an option in TurboTax or on Form 8962 where I indicate that I had access to and refused a minimum value plan, so that TurboTax can calculate the correct amount that has to be paid back? How do I handle this so that I don't get flagged by the IRS when they process my employer's 1095-C (which indicates I was offered and refused their health plan) and compare it to my 1095-As?

Are you saying you can't find the 2025 tax return you completed? Which of the following 2 scenarios is what you are experiencing? What do you see when you log in to your online TurboTax account? Is there's no evidence of the completed return at all; i.e., is its acting like it wants you to start one from scratch? If so, you may have more than 1 account without realizing it. If that's your case, we can tell you how to troubleshoot to find other accounts. Or do you log in and arrive at the Tax Home, where there is at least evidence you used the account for a current return, but you don't know how to reopen the interview because TurboTax thinks you were finished? "Completed my taxes..." Did you already file the return as well? Or are you needing to review your return and then file it?

My income for the year is over the threshold to have to pay NIIT. I also included in my tax returns the 1099-INT for my savings account interest earned. Based on this I should have recieved a form 8960 for the 3.8% tax on the interest income but it is not included. When comparing with another tax software online they do indeed include the form so I am wondering why TurboTax has not included it.

As of 2026, TurboTax does not offer any deduction tool. Period, Full Stop! Yes it used to, and we all thought it was great. If they do incorporate an import feature to third party providers, yet this tax year or even next, then good. But right now we can't even import the charitable deductions we loaded into It's Deductible prior to its demise late last year. I loved TurboTax, recommended it to others, but they no longer have this capability and at least one other tax software (H&R Block) does allow you to input your Charitable deductions within their package at time of entering all other deductions. Whether a person enters their Charitable deductions throughout the year or all at once at tax season, it the same total effort. Again, I hope the info you got from an Intuit employee makes it to the TurboTax product. I would love to keep using TurboTax. Each of us has to look at costs/features/ease of use/accuracy: 1. Costs of TurboTax (without It's Deductible) plus cost of some new third party "It's Deductible" replacement vs cost of another Tax package with a Charitable deductions valuation tool built in. 2. Other features included or missing from each product 3. Weigh the pros and cons of useability (always in the eyes of the beholder). 4. Does each software package compute same results with same input (I may have one issue with H&R, around Section 179 depreciation).

I am still having same problem, I can't get it to populate the 8283 for my state return. This is terrible to still have no resolutions. I am using desktop Home and Business. I have gone back through every entry hoping it would populate, but nothing. Software is updated, my computer is up to date. I don't know what else to try??

Why is it that TT can't get this right? I was able to use the Merrill selection for import and it found my accounts and I selected them to be imported. It asked me a security question and all that and then pretended to work. It came back saying it was all done and I can close the dialog window. But when I go back to TT it clearly doesn't know that everything is done. If you go digging around in TT you can see that it knows about the accounts but everything is 0. Clearly, no one at TT actually tested to see if this works. It's BROKEN. I have used TT for years but it seems like they have real code regression problems. Plus, WHY ON EARTH can't they alphabetize the charitable donation entries? It's been this way for ages. Give me a break!!

I completed form 1041 for my brother's estate, and the K-1 for the beneficiary has been created using TurboTax business tax software. The 401k plan administrator provided a 1099R for the full distribution to the estate with federal and state taxes withheld. The 1041 and K-1 created by TurboTax show taxes withheld as overpayments that will be refunded to the estate. I need them to go to the beneficiary as credits. How do I credit the taxes withheld to the beneficiary for her taxes - where am I inputting the information on the 1041 incorrectly?

I managed to create a Windows 11 Pro VM within my Windows 10 Pro Laptop and have successfully loaded Turbotax 2025 on it. I learned some new stuff and it wasn't all that difficult. I don't have a license for Win 11, and I assume it'll complain in a month or two, by which time I'll have my taxes filed. I chose Win 11 Pro so I could avoid getting a Microsoft account by creating a 'local' account. I created a shared network folder in the Win 10 host so the Win 11 VM can read my old .tax2024 files and write .tax2025 files so even if things go south with the Win 11 VM I'll still have the content backed up in the Win 10 host.

I click 'Add income', put in my 1099-MISC info, and when I'm finished and go back to the royalty info screen it says "You have not entered any income for this property."

Updating the same issue for attempted 2025 TurboTax Desktop installations on PCs with ARM processors: Although no specific processor limitations are noted anywhere when purchasing these products, it is readily apparent to me now that attempting to install and use TurboTax Desktop on a Windows 11 PC with ARM processor architecture will not be successful. I have a relatively new Microsoft Surface PC with a Snapdragon ARM processor. Although the program will seem to have successfully installed, when trying to activate it you will see a brief "splash screen" with the TurboTax logo followed by its disappearance. Trying various work-arounds such as disabling anti-virus software (Windows Defender), removing Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable files, trying various emulation tweaks, etc. will all be met with failure. There does not appear to be a reliable fix. This issue is not publicized anywhere unless you search the issue whereupon you will discover that you are not alone. I had to update and resurrect an old Intel x86 processor-based laptop to run the program. I don't expect Microsoft or Intuit to be addressing this incompatibility anytime soon and suspect that Intuit will continue to push utilizing their online products instead. Just another headache to add to the list!

IMHO, if he gets the credit, tell your cousin to pay you the $10. It's the least he can do for your generosity in establishing an extra computer account and letting him use your software. This is from the $10 credit terms: "Limited to one credit per license code and applies to the first in-product add-on purchase only regardless of number of product installations." For additional terms of that offer: FAQ: What is the TurboTax Desktop $10 credit available at wholesale clubs? https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/credit/turbotax-desktop-10-credit-available-wholesale/L052b4HXc_US_en_US
