Maybe the 2025 1040X functionality is not yet available?  I can't for the life of me find where to do it.  I file an amended return last year so I know it's possible!

Your child needs to go to MY INFO and change the answer to the question that asked if someone else can claim him as a dependent.   If you already filed and his return is being rejected for this, changing his answer in MY INFO should fix it so he can e-file.

@fayebavera , I am so sorry to hear of your loss.  It is a very difficult time especially when having to deal with all the remaining issues and settlements and being alone at the same time.  I know-- my wife passed in early 2024  and am still in the throes of  settling things and relationships.  Given your situation and this being the first filing post passing, may I suggest that you employ a tax professional.  This puts everything at an arms length and allows you to focus on all the other and pressing things and  heal.  Of course this is my personal opinion --- only you can judge your actual situation. However, if you choose to do your own, we are all here to support you in any way we can.   Regards,    pk
for decades there has been no way to attach an external document to TurboTax. I don't expect this to change in the next 50 years.

You will need to amend the 2025 tax return to include the Form 8379.  This assumes you filed the original 2025 tax return as married filing jointly.   An amended return, Form 1040-X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS if the original tax return was not e-filed. The IRS will take up to 20 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return. Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS. See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a current year tax return - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/amend-federal-tax-return-current-year/L7eS6o1qh_US_en_US?uid=lfunevhk   See this TurboTax support FAQ for the injured spouse form - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/spouse-partner/file-form-8379-injured-spouse-allocation/L3KVDvR02_US_en_US

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/   Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.     You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds   To track your state refund:     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr   If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/refunds-take-longer-others/L14YlqFrH_US_en_US?uid=lexdr7zh . https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst         If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act.  Do not expect your refund before early March   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/internal-revenue-service/federal-refunds-delayed-due-path-act/L5jnQJsBi_US_en_US   Note:  “Accepted” is not the same as “approved”.  TurboTax tells you the e-file was accepted if the IRS deems that there is enough information on the return for them to take it in for processing.   Only the IRS can approve of the refund, which is a later stage of processing.  If the IRS approves your refund they will provide a date for the refund to be issued.   FROM THE IRS WHERE’S MY REFUND SITE: https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund How it works Where's My Refund shows your refund status: Return Received – We received your return and are processing it. Refund Approved – We approved your refund and are preparing to issue it by the date shown. Refund Sent – We sent the refund to your bank or to you in the mail. It may take 5 days for it to show in your bank account or several weeks for your check to arrive in the mail.

Have not checked the stats but medical equipment will likely stick with W10 for quite a while as fda approval to change stuff takes a while. Also if W10 is down whats the rest using be it mac or linux or even W7 etc. We had clusters using linux and w10 running the desktops and at one point it was 14 linux nodes to one W10 al behind firewalls, so if W10 use is low I'm just wondering what hardware and use.is actually counted. Anyways thanks and take care

Hi @DianeW777 , Can you confirm if there are any specific steps to take for those of us who have already gotten our returns rejected?  As in, should I first delete form 5695 and then go through the Home Energy Credits section fresh, or some other specific steps to follow?

You probably do not need to amend your tax return- because your parents will be claiming you as a dependent, you will not be able to take the Educational Credits.  If your scholarships were not more than the tuition, you would not have scholarship income to report so you most likely do not have to amend your return.  You should give the 1098-T to your parents in case they are able to claim the Education Credits.
