Hi, I'm trying to enter the information for a non-cash donation to a charity. We had the object appraised, so I have the name and tax ID of the appraiser, and am having trouble entering the tax ID. I'm using TurboTax 2025 Premier - Desktop version 025.000.0245 for Windows. As I go through the flow with the questions about valuation, on the "Appraisal information" page, it asks for the Date of Appraisal, the Appraiser title, and then the "Appraiser ID number (SSN, Tax ID, etc.)", followed by the address fields. I can enter all the info fine except the Appraiser ID number. I've confirmed I have the correct number, and it's in the format ##-#######. But every time I enter the number in the field, it tries to force the format to: ###-##-####, which looks to me like a personal SSN format, not a business Tax ID (EIN?). It turns the box red, and gives me the error message: "Invalid social security number", and does not allow me to continue.
I'm wondering if this might be an issue with that page in the software, causing it to limit the entry to SSNs, and not accepting a Tax ID / EIN type number??
Has anyone else run into this? Is there a way to contact TurboTax to ask about it or report the issue with the page? Or am I possibly missing some other issue?
Thanks!

Reply to message The easy step interview will not ask about anything other than Books and supplies under the 1098-T part. And the 1099 Q easy step does not ask about any other expenses like room and board. When I attempt to override by entering the expenses manually on the student info work sheet, the entry is in blue and it is not saved. because after closing the program and restarting it, the entry on the form vanishes. There seems to be no way to get around this bug. But we can leave 1099 Q out because that is not sent to IRS anyway I believe. It says on the form it is sent to IRS It says right on the 1099 Q it is sent to the IRS

If you are sure that you have satisfied all RMD requirements, then in TurboTax, on each form 1099-R for RMD withdrawals, answer that The entire distribution was an RMD then on the following page, to the question What is the RMD for your account? enter the amount of the distribution from that IRA account.
By doing this, you are telling TurboTax that all RMDs are satisfied and TurboTax will not calculate any penalty. The information you entered in TurboTax is to enable TurboTax to calculate any penalty where applicable, and is not reported to the IRS.

Follow these steps since the OID should not be on form 8995.
Open your return to the 1099-OID
Verify box 8 has the value - not accidentally entered in a different box
Look for uncommon situations or sec 199A question - a checkmark here will send it to the 8995- this should be blank
If all of that is correct and still showing on 8995, you may have a piece of data stuck in the wrong spot. Follow these steps:
Online version:
Delete the form OID and 8995, if possible, see How to Delete
Log out of your return and try one or more of the following:
Don't use Internet Explorer.
Clear cache and cookies,
Sign in using a different browser.
Sign in using a different device.
Log back into your return.
Enter the information again.
Desktop version:
Delete the forms OID and 8995
Save your return while closing the program.
Update the program
Open
Enter the information again.

My MAGI is $250,000, so the phaseout amount is $100,000, therefore my refund should be $6000. (.06x100,000).
TurboTax is calculating $4982

With online you can only prepare one return per account. Each additional return incurs a separate charge.

I have multiple IRA accounts. To address my RMD obligation I calculated the RMD amounts for each account to get my total RMD due. I fulfilled my total RMD requirement by withdrawing more out of one account than two of the others. Even though I have withdrawn the total RMD obligation I have for 2025, TurboTax is indicating that I owe a penalty approaching $10,000. This is woefully incorrect. Is there a way to correct this problem in Turbo Tax?

Please be aware that this update will affect depreciation for Schedule E (Rental Properties) only. Schedule C (Self-Employment) was updated previously and should be working in all versions of TurboTax.
