So are you saying you got a rejection message that the 2024 AGI is incorrect? Since you said this is "MY return", for this answer I'll assume that you are not filing a joint return.     If you are looking at your original 2024 return, and when you use the AGI shown on your 2024 Form 1040, Line 11, and you are getting rejected, it could be due to your AGI not being in the IRS database.   This can happen if you happened to have filed late in the year last year (however, you said you filed on time), but at other times there's simply no good explanation.    In any case, if the actual 2024 AGI is not working, try using an AGI of 0 and hopefully, that will be accepted.   It can't hurt to try.   Also see my next comment below.

The 1099-MISC can be considered elf-employment income depending on why you received it, so the answers to the questions will determine where TurboTax reports it.    Did they send you a 1099-MISC?  If so, as you walk through the steps to enter the 1099-MISC, you will come to a question that asks, did this involve an intent to earn money.  Answer no here.  This will turn it into other income instead of taxable income.  It will be reported on Schedule 1 line 8z instead of form Schedule C. If you did NOT receive a 1099-MISC, then you would not enter it as such.  Instead you will enter it as Other Income by selecting the following: Federal Less common income Miscellaneous Income Other Reportable Income Enter the description and the amount you received that was not to make you whole again. Also, prior to entering this grant money, be sure it is taxable income.  If it is from your college, where you are a student and it was used for qualified educational expenses, it would not be taxable income.

I should also add the car has an issue that is unfixable.

Fortunately, I have not needed to pay out of pocket for repairs due to my warranty and the additional warranty I paid.

Looking at your other post, since you kept the vehicle, the FMV of your vehicle does not come into play here.  This would be similar to an insurance payout.  If the insurance paid you just to fix the property, but you kept the property, then that is not taxable income.  If the insurance pays you to fix the property and then gives you an extra $3,000 for your frustration, the extra $3,000 would be taxable income (as long as it is not related to physical illness or injury) while the remaining amount that made you whole again would not be taxable.   If you did not keep the car and they paid you less than the FMV on the car, then you would have a loss on the sale of the car.  This would not need to be reported on your return since you did not receive a 1099 and a loss on the sale of personal property is not deductible. If you did not keep the car and they paid you MORE than the FMV on the car, then you would have a gain on the sale of the car and you would need to include it on your return.   To report any amount of the Lemon Law Settlement you received that was NOT just to make you whole select the following: Federal Less common income Miscellaneous Income Other Reportable Income Enter the description and the amount you received that was not to make you whole again.

I guess the W-2s are not distributed to the employees because they keep asking about them. In spite of the fact that their emails are entered in the program. Can you help me thank you.

It depends.  If the $9k you received from the lemon law payment was to make you whole again, meaning you put $9k into fixing the car or it was reimbursement for towing and rental cars, then no, that would not be reportable as taxable income.   If part of the settlement was punitive and part was to make you whole, only the part that was not to make you whole would be included in your taxable income. In this case, if your tail lights and other problems were $6,000 and the $3,000  was punitive, then that $3,000 would be taxable.    Your loan amount does not figure into the equation at all.  Only the purchase amount.    If part of the settlement was not to make you whole again, then you would enter this as Other Reportable Income to get there select the following: Federal Less common income Miscellaneous Income Other Reportable Income Enter the description and the amount you received that was not to make you whole again.

I am converting my IRA to ROTH over 5 year period and I converted 23000 dollars and the tax was 2300.  Turbo Tax is now asking me these questions, and here are my answers.  Is this correct? Did you convert the gross amount of $23,000.00 (Box 1) to a Roth IRA? Because $2,300.00 was withheld in taxes, you should only select Yes if you actually converted $23,000.00 using $2,300.00 of your own money. Yes, all of this money was converted to a Roth IRA No, I converted less than $23,000.00 --Actual amount converted 20700--My answer   I didn’t convert any of the money
If box 15 - State income tax withheld on your form W2-G is filled with an amount, then fill box 14 with the amount in box 1- Reportable winnings.

Thank you very much for the response. What I'm very confused about is if we're eligible under the FLSA. The rules are very confusing and nobody seems to be able to find a clear cut answer. My husband's job is supposedly exempt from the deduction, however, he gets overtime after the 8 hours and works well over 40 hours per week.  Some drivers are saying that their tax professionals are filing the deduction and some are saying that theirs aren't.   Thanks for any information. I appreciate it.

I bought a new car and had endless issues right after purchase. Within 3 years the car manufacturer gave us 9k in consideration of all of the issues. The letter specifically references the car issues like the tail light, etc. The car was about 33k when purchased and our loan was around 39k. The car manufacturer is not sending us a 1099. Should we report and if so where do we place it on the return and how do we show we are not taxed. We kept the car.

If you only get SS, you do not get a W-2.  You would get a 1099-SSA from Social Security.  If you have absolutely no other income, then you probably do not need to file a return.  If your combined income is less than $25,000, your social security benefits are not taxable.    Taxability of Social Security & SSDI General Rule: Social Security benefits are not fully taxed. Depending on your "combined income," up to 85% of your benefits may be taxable. SSDI Treatment: SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) benefits are treated exactly the same as regular Social Security benefits for tax purposes. Thresholds for 85% Taxable: Single: Combined income above $34,000. Married Filing Jointly: Combined income above $44,000. Married Filing Separate: Benefits are taxable at 85% regardless of income level. Thresholds for 50% Taxable: Single: Combined income between $25,000 and $34,000. Married Filing Jointly: Combined income between $32,000 and $44,000. Calculation Formula: "Combined Income" is calculated as your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) + Nontaxable Interest + 1/2 of your Social Security Benefits. Filing Requirements SSA Only Income: If your only source of income is Social Security, you typically do not need to file a tax return because you have no taxable income (unless your benefits exceed $50,000 for the year).
