I agree - this is not working properly. in the Deductions section I can see the State and Local Income Tax with the correct amount - however the software defaults to the lesser sales tax even if I click the check box saying I want to use the SALT amount. After reviewing the "Show me the estimated summary" it appears the math is working even if the glitch is occurring on the deductions summary page. How incredibly frustrating.

Yes, wife established domicile/residency in CO. Turbotax desktop will walk us through how to file a joint CO return and allocate the community funds, I assume?

If all your income was received while you were a resident in Indiana, all the income would be allocated to Indiana. In the screen you provide, you should enter the entire amount in the Indiana box. The State tax withheld is entered on the same screen that you used to enter the Federal tax withheld. All the tax is entered in the federal Section. Federal Taxes Deductions & Credits Estimates and Other Taxes Paid Other Income Taxes START or UPDATE Withholding not already entered on a W-2 or 1099 START or UPDATE "Do you have any tax withholding you haven't entered yet?" Yes Please look for "State withholdings" Select the state from the drop-down Enter the amount The tax withholding flows to the state return in the TurboTax program.

Thanks for your response, but my employer DID report my tips, in box 1, box 3 and box 5. But they did not put the amount in box 7 as they should have, nor did they put the amount in box 14. Turbo Tax Support has advised me to write it into box 14 myself with a description to indicate these ARE reported tips but were not entered in Box 7.

I have been deducting the mileage for use of my car to drive to rental properties (about 4% of annual rental use). I have not been deducting any other auto expenses as it is a small percentage of use. In late December last year I traded in the car for a new car which I will now use to drive to the rental properties starting in 2026. What is the best way for me to reflect this change in automobiles for my rental mileage deduction? I am using Premier desktop version of TurboTax. I started down the path of reflecting I stopped using the car in late December and it then opened up a pandora box of multiple questions on value of the sale of the car (traded in, not sold) and how much had already been depreciated, etc. Thank you in advance for advice on how to handle this situation.

Yes, you can deduct health insurance premiums on your Idaho state return, even if you use the standard deduction.

Please provide update. It still says "Depreciation and Amortization will be ready by February, but likely sooner".

Yes, your federal return will be rejected which could eliminate your New York State (NYS) return from being e-filed. You can mail NYS returns in certain circumstances. The link below will let you find the correct address based on refund, or a payment.
Address to file a NYS Return
How do I get a .pdf copy of my return? -- This will allow you to print your state return for mailing.
Be sure to include any W-2, and any other document that does have state withholding.

Can you clarify if she established domicile in Colorado? If you need to file a part year return, you will have to file a Joint Colorado return if you filed a Joint federal return. You will be able to allocate the Colorado income for each spouse so the husband will have zero Colorado income and the wife will have the community income for the time period she was living in Colorado.

My return was rejected because box was not checked. I went back through the information on TT and nowhere does it ask me that question. How do I get it to check that box?

When you enter the 1099-INT box 3 is automatically exempt in every state. I created a return and entered the 1099-INT with $150 in box 3 using the online version in federal income. I moved over to Utah, and the income shows as not taxed.
Next, I went to tax tools on the left, tools, preview and looked to see the money shown as a deduction.
Please review your Utah to see if your forms are similar to mine.
If you want to print or view your forms, including all worksheets:
In desktop, switch to Forms Mode.
For online:
On the left side, select Tax Tools
Select Print center
Select Print, save or preview this year's return
If you have not paid, select pay now.

is this a joint account with you and your spouse and you are filing separately?
If you are asking about the question that says tell us about your interest adjustment and you are filing separately or the other person is not someone you are married to, you can select other reasons.
If you are filing jointly with your spouse and the account is held jointly with your spouse there is no reason to adjust it as you would just need to enter the entire thing as one with no changes. Having only one social security number on it will not have an affect on the return.
