Hello, There is a bug in Form 1116 AMT (Desktop version for Mac). Part IV, Line 33 is incorrect. This value should be the smaller of Line 20 or Line 32. Instead, Line 33 is incorrectly picking up Line 27 (for Passive Income only). This results in an incorrect calculation of my AMT. I have submitted a sanitised version of my tax return and have a token code. I am happy to provide you with the token code if you need it. Please have this bug fixed ASAP as I cannot efile with an error. Thank you.

I eliminated the "Canadian" question. The first thing I did was to delete ALL imported forms ... Dividend, Interest, Stocks & Bonds, etc. After deleting all the imported forms, I returned to the "Summary" pages ... the page where see and can delete, review, or edit the various sections/forms (not sure what it's called ... I only do this once a year so I don't remember all the names used by TT). I selected for "Review" the import forms, and went through the process of again importing the forms from my Bank/Brokerage. During the "Selection" of forms to import, all the forms were "checked" by default ... including a OID 1099. The description of the form described the form as a "Foreign" accounts or interest ... something to that affect. I unchecked the form and the annoying "Canadian" question did not show up again as I completed (for the 3rd or 4th time) the 2025 Return.

Hello:
Turbotax token: Your token number is: 70343665-07773709
There is a bug with Form 1116 AMT
Part IV, Line 33 is incorrect. This should be the smaller of Line 20 ($5,888) or Line 32 ($5,903).
So the smaller value is $5,888.
Instead, Line 33 is only picking Line 27, the value for Passive Income, $3,090.
Because of this error, Turbotax is incorrectly calculating my AMT to be very high. Please fix this bug ASAP as I cannot efile the tax return with an error.
Thank you.

Hi @AmyC , Thanks for your response to this question. I'm in the exact same situation as the original poster. In past years, TT never put values in this part of the worksheet. This year (tax year 2025), TT is complaining about missing values for: line 4b(1)c: Adj Basis of Tot Inv Ast line 4b(1)b: Adj Basis Fgn Inv Assets Your reply didn't clarify for me whether: I've done something wrong in the Foreign Tax Credit questionnaire; or TurboTax genuinely needs some kind of information from me related to these investments. Can you please demystify for me what I need to provide TT to make it happy with this worksheet, and where I should be able to find that information? It's frustrating to pay money for a product predicated on explaining and simplifying taxes, only for it to hit you with an impenetrable blocker like this.

You might need to set the browser permissions to allow it to import. See answer by expert CatinaT1 https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/taxes/discussion/import-document-goes-into-a-loop/01/3773305

I have used TurboTax for years, but the 2025 Premier version is unable to download my available 1099s. One brokerage required my account and document numbers, and although it showed "completed," nothing happened. Another prompted me to "select" my account or "tax documents," and while it also indicated completion, the download failed. Similarly, another attempt went through the motions, but no download occurred. The software is up to date, but it's not functioning as it used to.

Can someone claim you as a dependent like your parent? Someone already filed a return with your ssn on it. It could be a mistake on their return. If you are a dependent go back though My Info and look for the checkbox that you can be claimed. Otherwise you will have to print and mail your return and let the IRS figure it out.

The estate retains the credit. You can't distribute that to the beneficiaries unless it was backup withholding.

It is automatic based on your age. It is not part of your Standard Deduction. The new Senior Deduction is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e. The 6,000/12,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b with any other sch 1-A amounts. Turbo Tax automatically includes it if you qualify. If you are married you have to file a Joint return.
For Online version You can preview the 1040 or print the whole return https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/accessing/help/how-do-i-preview-my-turbotax-online-return-before-filing/00/26160 What do you have on 1040 or 1040SR line 13b? See the 1040 …. ,

Yes you have to file married Joint or Married filing Separate. You should usually file a Joint return which is only 1 return combined for the both of you. Joint has the lowest tax rates and the highest Standard Deduction. And if you are in a Community Property state MFS gets tricky to figure out. Make sure to stick with this one account for the future. Just ignore the other spouse's account. Start a return and enter your name and info. It will ask if you are single or married. When you pick married a box will open for their name and info. Then when you enter any forms like W2s or 1099s be sure to pick who it is for. That is very important. When you get married you are considered married for the whole year even if you got married on Dec 31. If the bank rejects the deposit they will send the refund back to the IRS and the IRS will mail you a check to the address on your return. Were you having any fees deducted from your refund? Then it would go back to the 3rd party bank that took the fees out.
