If you are getting an error message when entering your 1098-T form and you copied and pasted some of the information, it's possible that extra spaces or hidden formatting may be causing the problem. Make sure there are no extra spaces before or after the entries.
In order to fix this, you will need to delete the Form completely and enter it again, making sure the information is correct the first time.
To delete the Form, when the program asks if you have the 1098-Form, you will have to answer Yes.
Then, click Delete when you see the Form that you have already entered. Press "Add Another" button and re-enter your 1098-T Form.

Does your state have a state/local income tax? Does the state/local income tax paid exceed the state/local general sales taxes?
View IRS Schedule A Itemized Deductions, line 5a. Is the box checked which says you elect to include general sales taxes instead of income taxes?
Sales Tax Deduction Limits
For tax years 2018–2024, the total deduction for state and local taxes (sales tax + property tax) is capped at $10,000 ($5,000 if married filing separately). For the 2025 tax year, this cap increases to $40,000 ($20,000 for married filing separately), with potential phase-outs for high income.
To claim this, you must itemize, which means your total itemized deductions must exceed the Standard Deduction to provide a tax benefit

It's not the rejection that is the issue, at least not for me. I made the corrections to the return as suggested, but Turbo Tax Desktop application is crashing while trying to resend the return.

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents. Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)
If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created. TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.
Go to this IRS website for free transcripts of a federal tax return - https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript
For a fee of $30 you can get a complete federal tax return from the IRS by completing Form 4506 - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf

Good morning. I received your reply and instructions which I have been doing for days now. I still cannot view any ofmy documents. I spoke with 3 representatives. The first one was able to connect me with the supervisor, and as we were speaking the line disconnected and she never called me back. I called back and the next representative was sending supervisors notes about my issue, and the instructions given to her by them to give to me did not work. I asked if I could speak with the supervisor directly. She said she they would contact me 24-48 hours and still waiting for a call back. Please assist. thank you. -------- My original message for help: Good morning. I have been on hold off and on with one of your customer service reps. He seems to be unable to assist me with retrieving my previous information / documents that I will need to view. They seem to have dissappeared. Been on the phone with him for an hour! I asked that he esculate the issue to his supervisor, however he says they are busy. I asked that they send my missing information to my email, but he is unable to. Help!
