If the IRS is just requesting form 8962, then you do not need to amend your tax return. You just have to enter your form 1095-A in TurboTax. TurboTax will prepare a form 8962 that you can print out and send to the IRS.   Please read this TurboTax Help article on how to respond to the IRS in this case.

there should be a box "I need to adjust my total cost basis" or similar (I'm on desktop not online) which allows you to input other adjustments for wash sales, AMD etc using adjustment codes (it won't reference 1f, 1g etc)   note when you make these adjustments to a sales summary you are required to send the details to the IRS either by mailing your 1099B (as a substitute for filling out for Form 8949) using Form 8453 to the IRS; or TT Online allows upload of PDF to satisfy this reporting.   if you don't have many wash sales you can avoid this by splitting the 1099B, enter the sales with adjustments as "one by one" which will put the details on Form 8949 in your filing, and enter the balance of your 1099B without these items as a sales summary and check totals on Schedule D.   See also   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/form-1099-b/need-include-1099-b-return/L0ygGdIiE_US_en_US   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/need-mail-form-8453-u-individual-income-tax-irs-e/L5gK5lbax_US_en_US

Not sure you saw my previous message. Not sure if this is your problem but I thought I had google chrome setup as my default web browser. I checked and it was not, so I switch default to chrome and it worked. Must not have been able to use the other browsers and I don’t know why since I was trying to use chrome. Good luck!

Here are two FAQs to help: What if I'm having trouble with my filing verification code? and How do I get a verification code if the email address is wrong?   You can change the email address associated with your account through your account settings.   Intuit uses a single sign in system for all Intuit products, so changing it here will also update it for any other Intuit products you use, such as QuickBooks or Credit Karma.   To Change Your Email Address: Select Intuit Account located in the lower-left corner of your screen (near the Sign Out button). On the Account Manager page, select the Sign in & security menu. Select the Email address section. Enter your new email address and then enter it again to confirm. Enter your current password when prompted to verify the change. Select Save. Check your new email inbox for a verification link from Intuit and click it to finalize the update. If you can't sign in at all, you can go to the Intuit Account Recovery page. This requires you to upload a photo of a government-issued ID to verify your identity.

Depending on the state you live in, your fees can be withheld from either your state or federal refund, whichever comes first. Since you paid your fees with your federal refund, your state refund will come directly to you. The second account information is on there in case your state refund came first.

Here's how to get all the forms and schedules.   TurboTax Online: Sign in to your TurboTax Account. Scroll down to the "Your tax returns & documents" section. Select the specific tax year you need (e.g., 2024). Click "Add a State" (you aren't actually adding one, but this "unlocks" the return so you can access the Print Center). In the left-hand menu, select Tax Tools > Print Center. Select Print, save or preview this year's return. The Key Step: Look for a checkbox or dropdown that says "Include government and TurboTax worksheets" or "All forms." Click View/Print to generate the full PDF, which will now include every schedule (like Schedule C, D, or E) and the internal worksheets.   TurboTax Desktop: If you used the software installed on your computer, you must open the specific program for that year (e.g., open the TurboTax 2024 app). Open your saved .tax file. Go to File > Print. In the print window, select the radio button for "All forms and worksheets." Choose "Save as PDF" to keep a digital copy with every detail.

yup sounds like you got it - Form 8606 is the key form where this all comes together and calculates the outcome to go on Form 1040 Line 4b so I would review that form (if you see asterisks against some of the amounts on Form 8606 it means a different worksheet is being used which should be in the PDF of your return).

What makes this difficult to understand is the term "backdoor Roth" which seems to imply that the transactions somehow combine to constitute a single transaction  Once you understand that the nondeductible contribution, which adds to your basis, and your traditional IRA distribution (Roth conversion), which consumes basis, are actually separately reportable transactions (and can occur years apart), it all becomes clear.  The only thing that these transactions have in common is that they require tracking of your basis on Form 8606, which TurboTax does for you.

If you actually paid the taxes yourself, then you would enter the total income received that included the taxes.  Then, enter a business expense for the taxes paid.   But, if the taxes were paid on your behalf and you did not actually receive that money or have to pay the taxes, then enter the amount with the taxes already taken out as your income.  In this case you would not enter the tax amount as a business expense.
What sort of problem are you having? Can you explain it here?
