You can fill out the form in the California tax return if you don't have coverage for 3 consecutive months. If you need a different exemption for other months, such as affordability (because you didn't have income in those months), you would need to request it through the Covered California website.    @GolfPlayah

Yes, it is asking if you received any distributions from your HSA.  This would be reported to you on a 1099-SA not your W2 (the W2 has your contributions through payroll).  If you did not use your HSA, you can indicate no and continue.  If you did have any distributions, you will want to enter the amount of qualified medical expenses; otherwise it becomes taxable income.
Bravo! Thank you very much Dave.

You would be a part year resident. In the My Info section of the program when entering your information, you were asked to enter your resident state as of 12/31/2025.  And you were asked if you lived in any other states during the year, you should have answered Yes and then chose Georgia as the state, then the date you moved to your current resident state.

Hi Marilyn, To clarify, I'm self employed with no employees and I set up a solo 401k plan with eligible automatic contribution arrangement. Per section 45T I'm eligible for the $500 credit for 3 years. Section 45T does not include the requirement that there be at least one no-highly compensated employee.   In TT 2025 doesn't seem to be  an option to select the auto enrollment per the link to the post from last year: "Under Wages & Income: Scroll down (or Add) to Other Business Situations. Choose Business Credits >> Pension plans - Startup Costs, Auto-Enrollment… TurboTax will confirm you are eligible for the Auto-Enrollment Credit, subject to limitations." If I go to to Business Credits this is what I get: And If I got Profit and Loss, there is no section for Pension Plans. How do I access the interview section for Form 3800 or Form 8881? If I go to forms and link my sch C to form 8881 and check Part II auto enrollment it auto-completes line 9 for $500, but then I get the error on form 3800. Thanks

Thanks, here are some more details!   Clarifying information: Married living separately. Filing jointly (most likely)   For one spouse home, seeking both Residential Clean Energy Credit and Energy Efficiency Home Improvement Credit.   For other spouse home, seeking only Residential Clean Energy Credit.   In TT deductions and credits, home energy credit section, TT asks if spouses live separately.  An answer of 'yes' leads to a window that says TT cannot handle energy credits for spouses living separately.    Question is: Can TT handle energy credits for spouses living separately if filing status is married filing separately?

You are correct that Rhode Island should only be taxing the income you earned while you were in the state.  The TurboTax entry has two options based on manual entry, which you should use because your employer provided that on your W2; but Rhode Island also allows allocation based on time and they go atomic calculating in holidays, paid time off, etc.  It seems this may be the discrepancy.  @BenSkiRideNH    I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:   TurboTax Online:   Sign into your online account. Locate the Tax Tools on the left-hand side of the screen. A drop-down will appear. Select Tools On the pop-up screen, click on “Share my file with agent.” This will generate a message that a diagnostic file gets sanitized and transmitted to us. Please provide the Token Number that was generated in the response.   TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions:   Open your return. Click the Online tab in the black bar across the top of TurboTax and select “Send Tax File to Agent” * This will generate a message that a diagnostic copy will be created.  Click on OK and the tax file will be sanitized and transmitted to us. Please provide the Token Number  (including the dash) that was generated in the response.   *(If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, “Send Tax File to Agent”)

Three weeks ago I and a few others posted about this issue - pathetic that it's still not resolved.  Pretty darn discouraging that a software fix has not been made available. The depreciation section is STILL not available and am wondering if that issue is also a Turbo Tax "problem" or is it the fault of the IRS?   I ask because I'm ready to say goodbye to TT after 20+ years.  However, I will say that I do appreciate the help of TT Employee Experts.
