You don't have to enter anything to get the deduction for seniors. TurboTax will give it to you automatically based on the birth date that you entered in your personal information. The maximum deduction for seniors is $6,000, or $12,000 if married filing jointly and both are 65 or older. The deduction is gradually reduced if Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) is over $75,000 ($150,000 if married filing jointly), so if your income is over that amount you will not get the full $6,000 per person. The deduction is reduced to zero if MAGI is $175,000 or more ($250,000 if married filing jointly).

You will need to file an amended return to report this form 1099-R.   As you have already filed, please wait to see if your return is accepted or rejected. If rejected, you may correct and resubmit. If it is accepted, you need to file an amended return.   If you are expecting a refund, we recommend that you wait to amend until after the IRS has processed your original return and you have received your refund.   To amend your tax return, please read this TurboTax article.    Please note that the amendment form 1040X will only be available on TurboTax after 2/19/2026.
Working on our 2025 return, spouse had HDHP for all of 2024 and 9 months of 2025 before going on medicare.  Turbo tax is applying the last month rule saying we owe, this is not correct.
I can't seem to enter my social security statement. It says "Revisit" and is grayed out. Is that form coming out soon or am I doing it wrong. Thank you.

"As a partial workaround, just enter that you had different coverage at different points of the year. The next screen will ask about 2025, and you will have to enter Family for each month."   I did this, and then a screen for 2025's breakdown came up, followed by another for 2024... The end result was the same though, in that it took me back to the main screen with no indication that this section was complete.   Perhaps its moot. The appearance of an incomplete section is uncomfortable, but also, when i chose "different coverage at different points of the year." I saw may return drop significantly and then get restored as I selected family for each month... so this proves that despite the weird ui quirk, everything in that section is properly accounted for.

Anyone know if Turbotax is serious about something coming to help with valuation of donated goods and, I hope, entry for 2025?  They state it in the information for the section but haven't seen or heard anything.  They have truly broken the process.

There are different steps to follow to use a tax file (.tax) versus a PDF. Your Mac should be able to convert the 2024 return in either format for use with the 2025 Mac program. Please see below and in this article:   If you have the .tax file for 2024:   On your PC, find last year's tax file and copy it to a removable device like a thumb drive or flash drive. On your Mac, copy the tax file from the device to your desktop. Open TurboTax for Mac and choose File New Tax Return. Select Begin. TurboTax will search for 2024 tax return files on your computer and should find it. If it doesn't, select Find your tax return. Wait for TurboTax to finish transferring the information over. If you have the PDF soft copy of a 2024 return created in non-TurboTax software, you might be able to transfer from the PDF.

My step son turned 18 in July last year, and has lived with us 78% of the time since 2023 according to an updated order by child support. The original divorce decree states they claim every other year which we did. The ex said she plans to claim him this year, but he lived with us the majority of the time last year, so we claimed him. We have court documented proof that he’s lived with us majority of the time (specifically 78% of the time), as well as a FAFSA form my husband fills out stating he lived with us.  Were we correct in claiming him? How much recourse does she really have? He’s 18, but half the year he was 17, and graduated high school June last year, so doesn’t that make the original court order also invalid?

Wondering if you actually figured this out.  I have the same exact situation on my 2025 taxes.  Went through all the prompts, charity is using it for exempt purposes, I placed no restrictions, etc.  It finally came to a screen asking for the AVERAGE TRADING PRICE but gives zero explanation of what is supposed to be entered there.  I ended up putting in the AVG price on the day of the transaction/donation completed.   I am also trying to figure out how to enter my Donor Advised Fund contribution which was also stock some of which has also gone up in value.
What happened to the 6000 $ deduction for each person over 65 for social security
