Thanks but a clarification question. I was active duty prior to 10/01/1991 and then a combination of active duty and full-time National Guard (AGR) after that date. This allowed for an active duty retirement of 33 years. Would I use just the dates since active both before and after? Thanks again!

The IRS Where's my refund shows Return Received. Same status since we filed in March 2026. There has been no change each time we check, which is almost weekly.   We did receive 1 letter from the IRS (in July) confirming they received the return but they needed an additional 60 days to review. The letter stated no action was needed on our side. We have not received any additional communication and are unable to reach anyone to obtain an update. Recordings and online systems just say "return received" and nothing else is needed.   We file a simple return, married filing joint, 2 W-2's and standard deductions. Nothing else.   Refund was supposed to be direct deposit, same as every year. We received our State immediately.   No, we did not have fees or anything being taken from out refund.   We did not pay for upgraded filing to have helpo from tax expert, so I can't figure out if TurboTax offers assistance for previous year's filing. We have used TurboTax for the last 9 years and never had any issue, until our 2024 filing.

@dylandawg It is automatic based on your age. It is not part of your Standard Deduction. The new Senior Deduction is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e. The 6,000/12,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b. Turbo Tax automatically includes it if you qualify. If you are married you have to file a Joint return.
