You can use any PC or Mac or mobile device that has internet access to use online TurboTax. You cannot use Windows 10 with the 2025 desktop download.

Hey Guys! So I am a student in Virginia but I have my established residency back in Florida. I did not update my residency (license or license plates) to Virginia because as I am a student, these places are usually not permanent. For more background, ive been here for a year already. With that in mind, I worked over the summer and am currently working a job at my school, for both that I received a W-2 for. How would I handle my taxes in this case? Would I file them here in Virginia or would I have to file them back at home?

Yes you should wait. There are still many federal and state forms that have not been finalized. And the IRS will not begin to accept/reject returns until January 26 so e-filing now would only put your return on a server where you cannot change it or fix it if you find a mistake after e-filing.

How did it get entered? The 1099R section isn’t ready until Jan 21. Or is this one that transferred over from last year?

And I'm having the same issue with charitable donations of stock using TurboTax Deluxe (Windows). Very frustrating to enter all the data, click "Done", and then it disappears with no explanation.

Long-time TurboTax Deluxe user. I am entering charitable donations of stock, and when I enter a donation and complete the process, most of the time the donation simply disappears from the "Your Charities and Donations" screen. This happens for every stock donation, but not for cash donations. It's a waste of time as a customer to continue doing this and losing data. I am using the most up-to-date version of TurboTax Deluxe for Desktop. INTUIT - PLEASE FIX IT.

You would never include that income on your return.
If your child's only income is SS survivors benefits, then it is not taxable no matter how much it is. If they have other income, they might owe tax, you would have to prepare a return to find out. Online returns are free to start, you only pay if you actually need to file it and don't qualify for free filing.
