I incorrectly received a 1099-NEC from an organization I volunteer for. The amount was not income but reimbursement for expenses. How do I handle this?

I set up a single member LLC with the plan to buy a commercial building and occurred below expenses. $155 for LLC registration paid in 2025 $500 attorney fee paid in 2025 to draft purchase agreement of the building $1,950 environment site assessment fee paid in 2026; one of the prior tenants was dry cleaning, and mortgage require the environment site assessment.      In Jan 2026, I decided not to pursue the purchase because the environment site assessment result came back not as good as expected. Basically the single member LLC failed. Can I deduct any of above expense? If so, where to report and on what year return?     Thank you!

I just encountered the exact same problem.  When I got to the part that it allowed us to enter the amount for books  - I simply clicked on the "forms" (so I was no longer in the step by step mode) - and it actually allowed me to enter the amount of room and board on the correct line (I believe it was line 6) - and then it gave me proper credit against the amount distributed from the 529 reported on the 1099-Q.

Thx for speaking out our mind! I just tried, this issues was NOT resolved at all. I am disappointed that TurboTax is getting worse year after year.    This is a clearly a bug in TurboTax, they do not even have the courage to admit, did not take action to fix it. If this is not a high priority issue fix,  is there any other more severe issues TurboTax working on?   Please TurboTax, do not ignore feedback from 20+ years customer! You need to fix this issue!

@Movie-Nut wrote: First, some respondents to this thread have mentioned that H&R Block does not have a charity deduction feature. THIS IS FLAT WRONG. No one wrote that., at least I haven't read a post to the effect. What is CLEAR is that there is NO import functionality, which was the primary and MOST USEFUL feature of ItsDeductible when combined with TurboTax.   Thus, what many users want is some method where they can enter donations as they are made throughout the year and then import that data directly into their tax preparation software.
Can you please share what did you put in there? Mine is not working neither.

I completed both my Federal & State.  When I am ready to e-file, I get this message "Attachment Needed - Form 8283, Appraiser Signature Document" I had no contributions in 2025 or 2024 I attempted all the suggestions to solve this "no dice."   The Form 8283 is not in my forms. I have done an online "search for updates," and I am completely updated on my TT Business I can't file my personal return until I get through this with my S Corp. I see many TT subscribers are having the same issue. Is this a TT update we all have to wait for? Or is there already a solution?    Please advise Signed Pulling My Hair Out

In the Tools window choose the blue button TOPIC SEARCH. On the search line enter 1099-R without quotes. Make the selection in the list and either double-click on it or click the GO button. Next screen:  Did you get a 1099-R in 2025?

I hit the wrong entry on the Schedule C At Risk form and when I try to hit Search at the top, type in Schedule C, there is no Edit business button (i've read all the previous posts). I deleted form 6183 under tools --> forms and that did not make the form reappear. I also went to my self employement income section, edit and do not see anywhere for Final Details. I see "Uncommon Situations" but I never selected anything for that to begin with.   Can someone please help me?

First problem I was having was the Fed K-1 form appeared blank in the pdf file using the pdf reader in Windows 11 Edge browser (that's apparently how it reacts to a pdf file with an error).  When I installed Adobe Acrobat Reader (free) and made it the default, then I get the error message but can read and print the page.  Expert PatriciaV on another thread said Turbotax will fix the error in their Feb 13 update.  My partners can't wait that long so I am printing the finicky pages on a real printer, and rescanning to pdf so they and their tax preparers won't have the problem.  Hopefully the IRS will be able to deal with it since I already efiled.

Is he Single?   Did he indicate that nobody can claim him as a dependent?   Can you verify his income is $18,000-ish on line 11a of his Form 1040?

As promised in my earlier posts, I purchased both TurboTax and H&R Block to compare the process. First, some respondents to this thread have mentioned that H&R Block does not have a charity deduction feature. THIS IS FLAT WRONG. I just finished inputting my 2025 charitable deductions into H&R and while this feature exists within the H&R Tax software and not outside (meaning you have to enter items into software at time of doing taxes, not as you donate them as we did in It's Deductible). The process is very similar. I then went to TurboTax, entered all my Income and deductions, etc. On the Charity Deductions, I utilized the PDF file I downloaded from It's Deductible before it went extinct. While this worked by entering each donation as a group of items with a total value, clearly TT wants each individual item entered separately.  To Clarify there is NO IMPORT capability within TT to bring any external file or sync to any external software for Charitable Deductions. In my opinion (unless Intuit provide an import method) the other vendors that are working on It's Deductible clones can only provide the mechanism to enter an item and value it and probably generate a csv or pdf file that would still require you to manually enter donations into TT. While I still prefer the TT software for it ease of use (of course I have had several years of experience with it), the H&R Block offers a suitable user interface, charitable donations feature and came to the same results (Fed & State Taxes owed)
before you said it was a total of 34,700 (and in one other place, 33,700)  for over 65 married filing joint. Now you say it's 37,700 for over 65 married filing joint which is it?
