which would be better depends on the capabilities of the individual which vary. I suggest you interview a few of each and you might also want to interview some tax attorneys.   Some may not want to handle the situation because of the issue of getting info from more than 10 years ago. Try to get an estimated of their charges or perhaps a cap because it seems they are going to have to devote a lot of time and effort into resolving these issues. Also, there best estimate of what might be owed in taxes, penalties and interest. The IRS (and states) have the right to collect debts from the estate and the estate is responsible for settling these debts before distributing assets to the beneficiaries.  Whether the executor has any personal responsibility if this wasn't done is best ask of the pro.
This deceptive anti-consumer behavior by Intuit is absurd.

It absolutely is, and is anti-consumer. And consumers are Intuit's clients.

You’re absolutely right — if the $10 credit expired, TurboTax should’ve removed it from the checkout process to avoid misleading users. It’s frustrating when outdated promotions still appear active in the software, especially after you’ve already gone through the filing steps. Hopefully, TurboTax addresses this glitch soon and updates their system to reflect accurate credit availability.

Make that +1 on the Turbotax 10-buck checkout display error.      It bothers me, too.  Look, I like Turbotax ... have for many years.  But:  I want to know what I am paying when checking out for any purchase.  If the checkout screen flow says $10 off, which it did today -- October 15, 2025 -- that is what I expect to hit my card.  It is sketchy / sloppy / lazy for a software company, of all things, to fail to maintain accurate, current checkout screens.  If the deal's expired, fine, don't throw up screens blabbing about it.     This is not on Costco.  @RayG395  I think Costco management deserves to know that it's prized customer base has been subjected to this lil' gotcha.

I’m having issues on desktop version and trying to figure out how to report the bug too. Earlier this afternoon, I was receiving error messages on the app and took screenshots for my records. Then new issues on desktop version arose like being unable to delete line items (screen recorded), and docs uploaded that imported and autofilled info no longer in documents uploaded session. Spoke with rep for 45-minutes going in circles on phone while sharing screen with rep. I asked for the rep’s manager or if it could be escalated to someone in tech support, and he advised none of them are available. I then asked for his name or employee ID and he hung up, but luckily calls are recorded. He originally said the errors were due to traffic, had me log out, I also deleted cookies/cache, and waited about 10-minutes until he said it was okay to try again. Either way, never got fixed, and he said it’s a tech error so just file by mail before he hung up. Hope your issue and mine are resolved soon.
Ya llene todo y los envié pero me los están rechazando y no sé q hacer

My father passed away in 2023 due to complications of dementia and cerebrovascular disease. For most of the 10 years prior to his death, he failed to file income tax returns, both federal and in 4 states (IL, CA, NC, SC). He also failed to take required minimum distributions for a number of years, because of one financial institution not being set up to take them out automatically.   I got his RMDs caught up during the last 2 years of his life and got a couple of his federal tax returns and a few of his state returns filed, but even two years after his death I have not made much headway. I'm looking for a professional to finish the job.   I anticipate 25% penalties on the unpaid taxes, and I don't know how much the interest charges will be. I'm hoping that because of the dementia, a one-time request for forgiveness will be granted for all of the late RMDs. I am also concerned that because of the unfiled tax returns, Medicare premiums were undercharged for a number of years. Will they try to recover that from his tax estate, once the delinquent returns are filed?   Note:  There is no probate involved in any of this, as most of the tax estate was either paid or transferred on death (POD or TOD) to Dad's 5 children.  We have all contributed a share of our inheritances to an account that I will use to pay the back taxes and penalties.   Anyway, as the title asks, would a CPA or an Enrolled Agent be more appropriate?  Thanks.
After I e-filed my federal and state returns, they went through in Turbo Tax software on my Mac and then it froze. So I had to restart it and then my file went missing. How can I recover it?

If you efiled was it Accepted? When you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile. Check back though your emails and spam/junk folder. When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc. What does it say?   If it wasn't filed then go back though the File tab, all 3 steps to the very end and hit the big Transmit Returns Now button.   Log in and click on Add a State to let  you back in, you aren't really adding a state, that's just to open your return.     Or if it thinks you printed your return to mail you can switch to efile.   https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/e-file/help/how-do-i-change-from-mail-to-e-file-in-turbotax-online/00/26985
The principal part of the mortgage you are paying is already accounted for by depreciating the property over like 27.5 years.  You first entered the cost when you bought it.
