TurboTax says: "Good news! Now you can e-file from a foreign address. Just make sure to pay for TurboTax with a U.S. credit card." This is not actually good news for customers who do not have a US credit card.   The excuse is pretty weak, especially considering the nature of the business: "Like many stateside merchants, we require a U.S. billing address to pay for TurboTax if using a credit or debit card."  Many stateside merchants do in fact accept foreign credit cards (or paypal). Not offering those options is choice by TurboTax  that makes life very difficult for a large number of customers.    Does anyone know of a workaround (short of getting someone in the USA to pay the TT fee for you)? Like sending them a check or wiring them the money?   Thanks!

I still have the software on my PC for a few years of my tax returns.  When I try to log on, I get the familiar Update required and when I do an update, the tax return disappears.   I thought it was just last year's return but it's all of them.  Gone.  There is no way to open a return without accepting the update. I wanted to see what would happen if I tried to reinstall 2019.  It wouldn't even accept my license code, which I still have.

No.    If you take money from an IRA you will be taxed.   If you are under 59 1/2 there will be a 10% early withdrawal penalty; there will always be ordinary income tax.  You will get a 1099R at tax time which must be entered on your tax return.    What you do with the money from your IRA is irrelevant with only a few exceptions.  Gifting the money to a family member is not one of the exceptions.     Gifts given to family members, friends or other individuals are not deductible.   Gifts received are not taxable to the person who received the gift, and are not entered on a tax return.   If your gift exceeds the yearly limit ($18,000 per individual)  imposed by the gift tax rules, then you will need to complete a Form 709 gift tax form and send it to the IRS, although it is very unlikely that you will owe any tax.   TurboTax does not support Form 709.  It is not an income tax form and would not be included as part of an income tax return.   Here is a link to the form: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f709.pdf   https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tips/estates/the-gift-tax-made-simple/L5tGWVC8N
No. You have to pay tax on the IRA withdrawal. What you do with the money after the withdrawal doesn’t affect its taxation.

@user17578108386 ,  Absent paperwork  ( real or soft records), you have to base your  accumulated depreciation  by  best method that you can. Since you think that you have taken the same amount every year, just take the most recent  depreciation and multiply by the number of years you have had this business going/operating.   Using best effort to estimate generally will stand an audit ( if one  comes your way).  However, please keep good records of how you arrived at the number. Yes this would mean that your basis in the property will be reduced by the accumulated depreciation and thus increase your gain.  Also from the gain, that portion caused / traceable to the accumulated depreciation is treated as ordinary gain.  The rest of the gain ( i.e. capital gain portion )  is now eligible for exclusion  up to  $250,000 per filer   ( sale of main residence), if you meet the  eligibility requirements.   Is there more I can do for you ?
I got the same message. It will not let me log in to my tax return on my PC.

@Ies     If you are on MS Windows, and attached to an MS-OneDrive account, make sure that OneDrive is open to look there.  I know that when I started up OneDrive, the default was to move files off your computer if not used within 30 Days.....I re-set that to always keep files on my computer, and only back-up copies of those files to OneDrive.

How do I enter a nominee distribution for interest and dividends?  I have looked at the answers to prior questions on this topic and I have seen the following response that I have copied and pasted below and followed those instructions BUT there is NOT such an option under the "Do any of these uncommon situations apply?"   ============================ To make a nominee adjustment to the interest reported on form 1099-INT, please follow these steps: On the Wages & Income screen, scroll down to Interest and Dividends. Click the Start/Revisit box next to Interest on 1099-INT. On the screen Review your 1099-INT info, click Review next to the 1099-INT you wish to adjust. After the entry screen, you will see Do any of these uncommon situations apply? Click the box I need to adjust the interest reported on my form and click Continue.     ==========================

I attached the WRONG signature page and eFiled - now I need to send an Amended Return with the correct Signature Page so it is accepted on time, how can I upload that attachment when it does not queue me to add it, and I cannot delete the one that is incorrect??? Desktop 2024 filing....I filed on time, says Accepted, but the signature page IS INCORRECT...so I need to immediately file an amended filing with the correct signature page attached so I am not late. How can I swap them out???
Hi les, I never got a real response or a solution. Unfortunately I ended up starting from scratch. Sorry, I feel your pain.
I can't find a phone number for TurboTax IT. I don't understand why 2024 had to be updated because this is almost the end of the year already. My PC says I don't have .tax2024
My 2024 tax returns (Premier and business) have both disappeared after mandatory updates.  What can I do about it? How can an update wipe out 2 tax returns?
see the filing instructions on the IRS website https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1310.pdf
