I have filed taxes on my adult disabled child every year. This year, I was told I did not need to file as I claim this child as my dependent. She does not work and receives only SSI and SS Retirement from a parent, earning less than $14,600.00 in 2024. Is this correct? Thank you in advance.

You can report it as a stock sale. However, if there is no proceeds or cost basis listed on the 1099-B form, you don't need to report it as there is no income to report.

Did you get emails from TurboTax saying your return had been Filed and Accepted? Did you use TurboTax Desktop or TurboTax Online?
If you used TurboTax Desktop, when you open the program, click on 'Check Efile Status' under the FILE tab.
If you used TurboTax Online, Sign In to your account. You should have a page indicating you Filed, with a link to for 'IRS Refund Tracker'.
When you check the Where's My Refund? link, make sure you enter the Refund Amount shown on your Form 1040, Line 35a.

Is Form 8453 part of your return? When you print your return (or create a PDF) TurboTax only generates the forms and schedules that are transmitted to the IRS. If Form 8453 is part of your return, then your e-filed return has told the IRS that you will be mailing Form 8453 to them. I doubt there will be a problem if you don't mail it, because you shouldn't have to, but you should be aware.
