Hi, I had some foreign income last year and I was able to use TurboTax to file my taxes with the foreign income and foreign tax credits. I don't have any foreign income this time, but I am trying to use the carry-on foreign tax credits. In the foreign income section, I have tried putting my foreign income as 0 and carry-on credits as $1000, but it just won't reflect in the final return. I have also tried putting my foreign income as non-zero and the carry-on credits still won't reflect. Has anyone successfully filed via TurboTax website using carry-on foreign tax credits?

The accounting department claims the w-2 is correct as Box 11 is only reflecting the vesting of an executive pension plan. The pension was not paid out as a lump sum but rather is being distributed in small monthly payments. They also produced a separate w-2 for the second half of 2025 when monthly income was actually distributed from this plan.    I left box 11 blank in my Turbotax return since vesting in a pension plan is very different from receiving an actual cash distribution and there was no other way around this glitch. Was that correct?

Yea, once I realized TurboTax was trying to charge me extra just to talk to a "live expert" I tried another service (free tax usa) and had no problems, it took maybe an extra 15-30 min to just start everything over there. As long as you upload last year's tax filing when you begin, it's super easy. And much cheaper!
Can you please confirm that CSV 8949 import will work on the desktop version and not just the online version once it is ready?

The 2025 Form 1040X will be available March 4th.  If you've already Filed and were Accepted, you need to wait until you receive your Refund (or your Balance Due payment has been processed) before submitting an Amended Return.   There's no rush to file an amendment; it takes up to 12 weeks to process and doesn't catch up to or correct your previously filed return since it's processed separately.    @123Mocha

I am just hitting the same problem, I think.  My daughter moved to Washington state for a new job, but has a tiny bit of income earned while in college in our state.  TT opens a box stating that I need to pay $45 for the state filing.  Her return is very simple in the original state, so I was planning to just print and mail it in. Washington, of course, doesn't require a state return.  So, why would I need to pay $45 when my order clearly states  TURBOTAX DESKTOP PREMIER TAX YEAR 2025 WIN DOWNLOAD WITH STATE ?

Yes, you would choose "premature" withdrawal.    The IRS will know that you removed the excess contribution when you enter the 2026 Form 1099-R on your 2026 return. This entry will go on line 20 of the 2026 Form 5329 and then resolve the excess contribution carried over from 2025 on line 18 of the 2026 Form 5329.   Next year, on your 2026 return after you enter all Form 1099-Rs you will click continue and then get a question about your prior Roth IRA contributions. Here you will include the excess contribution amount with any other Roth IRA contributions. You can withdraw contribution anytime tax- and penalty-free. Therefore, this distribution will be tax- and penalty-free.

Same thing is happening to me....it's a known issue for Oregon...not sure if you live in Oregon too or if it's an issue for more than one state....I am all done with my taxes and waiting for this so I can file for about 3 weeks now. I brought it up to their attention via screen sharing and talking to their technical support and tax experts and they advised if I said that my son went to both high school and college the window opens to add expenses and you can enter them...like it did for my daughter who is in high school...It does work but I am nervous about using since the window says to only enter primary and secondary expenses and later I can enter expenses for college...but of course the window never opens...so I am still waiting for them to fix the problem so I can enter the expenses in the correct window, college...
