Are you on the Import screen?  Don't enter a name and scroll down to the bottom and pick Skip Import or I'll enter it a different way.   When you get to the interest entry screen you just need to enter the name and put the amount in box 3.   If you don't see box 3 you need to check the little box on the left for ….My form has info in more than just box 1 (this is uncommon).

Make sure you have entered your child as a dependent in My Info, and that you have entered the child's Social Security number.   DONE   Careful— do not say that your child’s SSN is not valid for employment.  If your child was born in 2025 make sure you said he lived with you the whole year.  There is an oddly worded question that asks if the child paid over half their own support.  Say NO to that question. DONE   If your dependent was a full-time college student, make sure you were careful on the MY INFO screen for “Uncommon situations” and that you indicated there that they were a student. STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL   Have you entered income from working in 2025?  If not,  you will not receive an income tax refund based on having dependent children. I HAVE 1099 INCOME, SAME AS PREVIOUS YEARS.   I have done all of the above. Still not calculating the credit.

If you indicated in TurboTax that you did not receive a W-2 or 1099-R it will create a Form 4852 as a substitute.  You will need to find the entry and/or form and delete it so you can efile.  (There is a follow-up question to W-2 or 1099-R that you did not receive the form or need to complete a substitute form.     For the steps to delete the form, see How do I view and delete forms in TurboTax Online? or How do you delete a form that was incorrectly entered?   Form 4852 serves as a substitute for Form W-2, Form W-2c, and Form 1099-R (original or corrected), and is completed by taxpayers or their representatives when: Their employer or payer does not give them a Form W-2 or Form 1099-R. An employer or payer has issued an incorrect Form W-2 or Form 1099-R. The screen right after the one where you entered your SSA1099 asked you if you lived in certain foreign countries in 2025.   Skipping past that screen or answering incorrectly results in a blank line 6b, which means your Social Security was not taxed correctly.  This was  a user error that we are seeing often.

Thanks for the info. The 1099SM says INCLUDES: $xxxx.00 includes Paid in 2025 for 2024. Received a payment was actually about $500 larger than amount deposited directly to our bank. Had requested (by Certified Mail) a breakdown of that payment to see if tax was deducted. SSA never answered. So we should just enter what's on 1099SM?
Merry Widow. This worked for me.  Thank you!
