Is there an error on a W-2? Do you have a W-2 that reports income to North Carolina in boxes 15 through 17?

How can I get Turbo tax to eiffel this year, as it did for me last year, when Turbo tax says it has no record that I emailed? (I am looking at my records that I printed off last year.)

It depends. If you are referencing a single member limited liability company (SMLLC), then this would be reported on Schedule C with your individual tax return. An amendment can be completed if you were actually open for business in 2024, even though you had no income. How do I amend my federal tax return for this year? What is the deadline for filing an amended return? @lugar-darin [Edited: 04/13/2025 | 12:43 PM PST]

If you received a grant and a 1099-NEC form, you should likely report this income as nonemployee compensation. Here’s how to file it in TurboTax:
Open or continue your return.
Navigate to the self-employed income section:
TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to self-employed income.
TurboTax Desktop: Search for self employed income (use this exact phrase, don't add a hyphen) and select the Jump to link.
Answer Yes on the Did you have any self-employment income or expenses? screen.
If you land on the Your 2024 self-employed work summary page, select Review next to the work you're adding income for.
Answer the questions on the following screens until you arrive at Let's enter the income for your work.
Select the form that applies to your situation and select Continue.
You can enter the info from your 1099 form on the following screens.

She'd need to recharacterize her Roth contributions to a traditional IRA by April 15 to avoid a penalty. She can then convert the funds in the traditional account back to a Roth account.

If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you will need to correct your return and/or update your program by following the onscreen instructions.
If you continue having issues, you can check some of our common solutions. If your tax return can't be e-filed for some reason, TurboTax will let you know.
If your issue continues, contact us again and give us more details.

Thanks for the reply, the problem I'm having is that it doesn't get to the point of asking that question. Once I enter in the info from the 1099-NEC it's done, and it goes back to the Income and Expenses page. I'm using the online TurboTax Premium. Maybe it's different.
