You can change your state filing residency in TurboTax at the beginning of most of the state tax returns.  It will be one of the first questions.
My account is requesting an update on my NY taxes as I moved for part of the year, I am confused on how to allocate these funds. My token is 1302016

@wabenoflyer  Since you haven't actually filed, you can make changes by editing.  Do NOT click on Amend, or you'll have problems.   If TurboTax thinks you were finished, your interview will be closed.  To open it back up, at the Tax Home look for a link "Add a State."   This doesn't really add one, but will open the return back up.     If making changes on the Federal side, make sure it's reflected in the state return, if applicable.  After making the changes, run the Federal and state Reviews again.
Sorry for another question.   What should I put for this question? Myself or eBay?   "Enter the name of the person or financial institution that brokered this sale"

Thanks for your reply, DawnC.     As I was going back and forth between this forum and my 1040, I saw that the error flag had been removed from the list of forms.   I have two IRAs, an inherited one from my dad and my own.  Turbo Tax shows three copies, one for each of them but the numbers don't agree with the 1099-R sent to me by Schwab.  This is strange.  Looks like Turbotax has entered the numbers I entered during the interview.  The form with the data from the inherited IRA shows a "Payer's State/state no." which is different from the one listed above.  The error flag is gone.  So maybe Turbotax will accept this now?     The number that Turbotax inserted is:  UT / 1234567    (not that numerical number, but a unique one with six digits and not 87-60005455WTH.  This is all very confusing!    There was no Utah State withholding, so I'm confused as to why this is even an issue.     I can't file yet, as I'm waiting for another K-1 from a Limited Partnership that is worthless, but still filing K-1s each year, and four or five months late.  Very frustrating.   I've used TurboTax for several decades and not seen this problem before.  I"ve filed returns with  these two 1099-Rs for over 20 years,  Not seen this problem, or error message before.  My dad passed away 24 years ago and I'm still being taxed on the IRA I inherited from him plus my own.  At 82 years of age, I'm starting to slow down mentally.   Thanks for your help and sorry for the long message!   veehbj

Yes, those amounts may be coming from your 2023 return.  Since people often have the same retirement accounts year after year, but you don't have them this year, you can delete those items from your Federal return in the Retirement income section.     This should correct your Iowa return.   If you're using TurboTax Online, clear your  Cache and Cookies first.   @ctq515

Hi. I suppose the question is, do I get taxed on the traditional IRA distribution if I deposit it into my Roth IRA before the tax deadline? I did not perform a recharacterization.

She isn't referring to removing your child as a dependent on your tax return.  I think she's referring to not claiming a dependent on your W-4 Form as an allowance.  However, the W-4 Form was changed and when allowances were part of the W-4 form, the maximum amount of taxes would be withheld from your paychecks when you claimed 0.   With the new system, you’ll indicate whether you need to withhold more or less than the standard amount. If you have 0 dependents and adjustments, the standard amount will be withheld from your paychecks.  you’ll receive less money on your paychecks, you should have a lower tax bill at the end of the year.   Refer to the TurboTax Blog Understanding Your Withholding Allowance on Your Form W-4 and What Is a W-4 Form? for more information.
