I keep going back to the non cash Charitable Deductions section in hopes of a useful update. No luck on the update, let alone useful. However, I do get more irritated every time I read " We're working on a new tool to help you look up the fair market value of your item. We expect it to be ready soon but you can file without it." Uh, no - not really. It translates to me as you bought our software to make filing taxes easier. But, we made a change that did away with the original well functioning tool. That has now made it much harder to prepare your taxes and that's pretty much too bad for you.

@splitifnger09
Yes, I'm sure. The deduction for charitable contributions for non-itemizers, which starts in 2026, is a below-the-line deduction. Where did you read that it lowers AGI? If it's an online source, please post a link. Social media and AI are not reliable sources of information about income tax rules.

An update, everyone. Tonight I finally had some updates push on the desktop version and that resolved the Form 8959 error, and I was able to submit the filing. A warning, however! Before you push the updates, make sure you save a copy of your completed draft return tax forms on your computer because my progress had dropped out after the updates installed and I restarted the TurboTax program - and thankfully, I was able to open and load the returns/forms from my computer instead of having to start again in the desktop program.

My apologies if you are not a Turbotax stooge/apologist. I'm very angry about this situation. I never agreed to have my tax refund shot into the ether where I could never retrieve it. I entered my checking account, as always, and Turbotax pulled a bait and switch. Maybe this year I use HR Block.

While going into forms mode to access 1099-R directly allows you to enter the data, it completely bypasses any sort of guidance. TurboTax has become just form filler software at that point, and it is more expensive and less user friendly than other form filler tax prep applications. Changes due to OBBB is a red herring. Nothing structural changed with qualified account distributions, and that legislation became law six months ago. Even in 2017, when taxes changed dramatically even closer to the end of the tax year, Intuit got TurboTax ready. Something else is going on here, and I wish Intuit would address it.

@ktrush512 This is not TurboTax Support. We are fellow users voluntarily helping you. We can't know anything specific about your account or refund choices. We only know that MVB bank is commonly the bank used for things to do with Credit Karma Money Spend. You will need to contact Credit Karma and see if they can assist you in locating it. If you need additional assistance, here's how to reach TurboTax Support, and you can discuss with them how Credit Karma's bank came to be involved. https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/contact/

Following up. I did call support and they confirmed that there was an account linked to my previous purchases (since 1998) but that it was marked inactive because of an unknown 'security' issue. They suggested I contact security by email which I did on January 12. I asked them to reactivate my previous account and delete the new one I created with the same email. No answer from them yet. I'll post updates here if there are any...
