Join filing for married spouses with separate states

Hi ,

I was wondering if it is possible to file jointly if one spouse is resident of Texas and the other spouse is resident of Louisiana ? Both are working individuals and the individual incomes are earned within their respective resident states.

Yes.  You can file a joint return for federal and then the person living in Louisiana can file a separate resident state.  The one in TX does not need to file a state return since there is no state tax in TX.
