How do I change from deluxe to free from the app?

In order to remove TurboTax Deluxe, you will need to use the clear and start over feature which is not available on the mobile app. What you can do is sign in at TurboTax.com with your mobile app login (User ID and password) to access the clear and start over feature to downgrade and once you have removed TurboTax Deluxe you can then go back to the TurboTax mobile app and continue your return.

The only way to downgrade is to clear and start over if you have not already paid. Once you have already paid, if you do not need TurboTax Deluxe, then call in and request the billing adjustment.

To verify Deluxe is truly not needed for your circumstances, follow these steps:

• Go to Personal Taxes TurboTax Online.
• Scroll to find the blue Learn  more links under each package and click the one under Free.
• Scroll to find four tabs, FEATURES, REVIEWS, TAX FORMS and REQUIREMENTS and select TAX FORMS.
• scroll down through the list to compare all four levels of TurboTax Online to see whether Deluxe will still be needed this year.

Otherwise, to downgrade, follow these steps:

1. Log out of your app
2. Go to a web browser, such as Chrome. 
3. Go to turbotax.com and log in to your account using the username and password from your app.
4. Click on the hamburger/three lines to see the main, left menu.
5. Scroll down and select Tax Tools.
6. Select Clear and Start Over.
7. Open the program again from your app.
