If I switch from turbo tax to h&r block in between tax returns does that effect my taxes for next year?

Not sure what you are asking.  What did you do exactly ?   Did you start a 2021 return with TT but finish/file with H&R Block ?    Are you asking what to do with the 2022 return next year if you come back to TT ?

You can't switch in between tax seasons, although you could sign up for an account elsewhere.

make your final decision in the Nov-Dec-Jan time frame when the new software becomes available.

If you used HR Block for 2021 then if you use Turbo Tax next year you can transfer from the HR Block return.  Ask again next year when you start. 

Don't worry having an unfiled 2021 return started in Turbo Tax.  You can try to clear it.
