Trying to electronically file my tax returns

I am using TurboTax Premier online to do my taxes this year.  I intend to file both my federal and state returns electronically this year.  However, last year, I used the TurboTax Deluxe Desktop version and filed my federal return electronically, but filed my WV state return by mailing in paper forms, which is what I have always done in the past to avoid paying the additional fee to electronically file the state return.  I'm now getting a question that I don't know how to answer.  This is it...

How did you file taxes last year?
It looks like you started, but didn't successfully e-file the 2024 return with TurboTax. We'll use this info to guide you through the next steps.
E-filed with a different tax software
Filed with a CPA
Printed and mailed tax return
Tried to e-file, but was rejected
Didn't file taxes

As you can see, none of these responses really fit my situation.  I don't want to make a mistake at this point. How do I get past this question?

Since you e-filed your 2024 federal return using TurboTax Desktop, you should select, “E-filed with a different tax software".

Where is that "used a different tax software?"

The question about how you did your taxes last year appears at the very beginning of the process in TurboTax Desktop. Depending on the answer, TurboTax will provide a screen to select your prior year tax file to transfer information to the current year.

The question also appears in TurboTax Online. If you used TurboTax Online the prior year but don't see your information from last year, check to see whether you are using the same online account.

Use this account recovery tool if you need assistance getting to your previous account in TurboTax Online.

@gdesai  Did you have a refund or tax due on the 2024 return?    Did you get the refund or pay the tax due?   Maybe they mean they didn’t your tax due payment.   If they didn’t get your actual tax return, mail them a copy now.

When you efile you get back 2 emails.  The first email only confirms the transmission.  The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.  And check your spam folder for them.

If you efiled and it was Accepted,  In the PDF of your TurboTax return, the last page of the federal return should be an "electronic postmark" that shows your name, Social Security number, the date and time that you e-filed the return, and the date that the IRS accepted it.

My suggestion would be to call TurboTax and ask for the 2024 DCN/MeF Submission ID of your submission. You can then provide it to the IRS so that they can trace it in their records.

VolvoGirl provided you with a link on how to connect with TurboTax. As for the IRS, you will have to give them a call at 1-800-829-1040.
