I'm trying to file married filing separately.  When I get to dependent care credit Turbo tax I won't be able to claim the child and dependent care credit because I can be claimed as a dependent on someone else's return.  I don't understand, How can I be claimed as a dependent on someone else's return.  My wife is going to file married filing separately also.  Did I answer a question incorrectly?

TurboTax might just be giving you the wrong explanation. You can't claim the child and dependent care credit if you file as married filing separately.

You might qualify for an exception if you and your wife did not live together for the last 6 months of the year, and you meet other requirements.

Why are you filing separately? You will almost certainly pay more tax that way than if you filed jointly, unless you live in Ohio and both have income.
