Hello There:

I was eligible for a second stimulus check along with my wife. We never received the check. We did qualify for the second based upon my income in 2019. However when doing the my taxes this year it didn't ask about the checks? Any advice on how I can claim the $1200?

TurboTax asks about your stimulus payments at the beginning of the Federal Review. You can also get to the question by typing "stimulus" (without the quotes) in the Search box, then clicking the link that says "Jump to stimulus."

Thank you for the quick response. When I enter in the search button it does not provide a jump to option. I am using the one downloaded on my laptop.  Is that option only for online?

If you haven't submitted your return for e-file yet, open TurboTax and search for stimulus, and select the jump to stimulus link at the top of the search results to return back to the section. Enter your info and Continue.

If you have submitted your return via e-file, and it's been accepted, please see the TurboTax Help article I didn't claim the Recovery Rebate Credit. How do I review and update my 2020 tax return? for guidance.

If you have submitted your return via e-file, and it's been rejected, you’ll have the opportunity to correct it.  Use the Jump to stimulus guidance above.

The IRS requires you to report all relevant stimulus information when you’re filing your return.

Thanks John. I did that and it did not ask me the questions. We were at 143,000 in 2019 and we did get the first check but not the second check. Thoughts?

What is the Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) on your 2020 tax return? Your AGI is on Form 1040 line 11. If you are married filing jointly and your 2020 AGI is $174,000 or more you are not eligible for a payment, even if you were eligible based on your 2019 income.

If your 2020 AGI is less than $174,000, what exactly happens when you type the single word stimulus in the Search box, press Enter, and click the "Jump to stimulus" link? What screen does it take you to? (It does work in the download software.)

Are you filing as married filing jointly? Do you and your spouse both have valid Social Security numbers, not ITINs? Are you both U.S. citizens or resident aliens? Can either of you be claimed as a dependent by someone else?
